I had a big operation on my stomach years ago, after the op i took really bad diarrhoea and my stomach blew up rock hard had to get injections to stop this reason given all bacteria in my stomach killed off with being exposed to fresh air for 8 days the skits went on everytime i ate but it stopped and things came back to normal so bacteria must regenerate IMO.

I here people saying paying up front is good for the mob flyer ,and what about the lad that just sends a few only entering a few races in a year well that describes me i only race a few races and yes i would pay a bit more birdage especially if the rules made it you can send any amount you like but only 5 can be entered in race ,how about the five entered £1 a bird the remainder 35p each to the fed ,at least you would be entering the race on even odds.

Why not Coupar Angus half way between Brechin and Arniston cant see the point of 48 mile jump from Brechin tae next race point then only approx 15 mile to Arniston maybe something i am missing ??.

How do you help race controlers ,make sure they have people they can discuss weather and conditions at points on the birds route home ie ,they just make calls on phone,as for training them in my opinion that is an insult to lads that are doing there best ,now i will put another thing into the equation should we have to vaccinate a bird more than once ,and does everyone do it? ,and how many fowk have young bird sickness then put them away to a race to soon .I have not put young birds yet and after Sat i am in two minds 8000+ rings must have been issued in the fed this year there have been 2 races 1000 birds race 1 800 birds race 2 ??

Through one reason or another i dinna race a lot but have been following this and other threads about this problem and a lad on another thread come up with this ,do not race your young pigeons ,start the season with 7 yearling races at the end of April ,then at the end of June start your old bird races 2yrs+ .This imo would give the youngsters time to mature in the head giving them a bit more savy to deal with problems on route and also there would be no need for darkness system as i think they they have a lot to put up with without the fancier interfering with nature .This is just one idea .

Thats fair enough ,dont race young birds and extend old bird season but a lot of fowk have not enough old pigeons to do this ,the whole set up would need to change .

Put my birds up Inverurie 6-30 last night took 45 mins came home in bunch, good night when i set off but on way down grey clouds rain at the Drum showers outside Inverurie but let them up they flew east if they had gone west it looked showery,IMO its the thundry weather thats upsetting things ,the showers were just moving about last night.

I ken for a fact that you lads that say you dont buy concoctions and potions of some sort or another are just like me you look their cupboards in their dookit and see bits and containers of all kinds ,if your honest you know am right .
