  4. I am nay sure mine but in my opinion i think the young birds are raced like this to give them flying time to get them ready and strong enough for young bird national ,same as North o Scotland Fed ,you need tay mine its a fair hike above you lads for the bird tae make hame, maybe im wrong
  5. Funnily enough,a mole has started throwing up lums across some grass bank at the back of my garden ,my dad when he was alive was a keen gardener and collected the earth for the greenhouse he said it was full of the stuff to enrich young plants ,stuff being i suppose minerals to us ,i never used it for the birds and dont suppose i will but it is a coincidence.

  10. Enjoying this post ,I agree with opinions on the feed you get these days it all seems to be full of little seed ,just speaking to a friend about this couple of days ago ,also i started as a apprentice butcher 1964 for the princely sum of 30/- bob = £1-10/- any way to boost this we had the pleasure of taking in the Hairst ie stooking the sheaves ,and once dry loading the cart with a pitch fork and taking it home to the farm and building the rucks seems like yesterday.

  12. My dookit faces west and its to close tae the house ,i had no other option (size of garden etc) so i Would say when me and the birds are happy is when the suns higher in the sky May onwards ,if i had a choice facing south and up to the air .

  14. So Peter what is the cost of one of these units ,just had a read about them ,so the cost? ,as they may be out of my league ,as for your other post i will be welcoming some good tips ,thanks.
  15. Problem is the loft is near house, dosn't get the sun until later in the year and its pretty well sheltered from wind to blow through it ,it serves its purpose well in dry weather but as you know weather here has been pathetic as of late .
  16. Anyone that's technically minded can you help ,do you think one of these things in the loft during these damp spell would help,as it been a long damp time of it and i cant get my doors open enough to get rid of smell and the feeling of dampness ,what do you think ,Screwfix £100 ,would it be a waste of money ?,wasted more on birds !!
