we stepped out to look last night . there was as you say "blue" at the bottom of it , gave the sky a blue glow. it also appeared slightly odd shape , not round ??

i have done this procedure a few times Colin . the syringe rarely works well , i found better to "nick" the area . if you need to massage , then do so . also found it best to release the bird back into the loft as the action helps to deflate the area
