  1. I don't think many birds reached the final race. However, there are better informed guys than me but none have had an input yet.
  2. Personally I would send them at weaning. I was only repeating what I believe to be what they do. It may have been in a video about Helmut Klass but I am not sure. He also recommended not sending any with white flights to South Africa for some reason. Maybe all the fighters in his family are duds.
  3. I have no idea why they do it or if they treat them for everything under the sun before sending them. I read it somewhere. Maybe someone else can enlighten us. The factor which allows them to do this is that the new and old lofts are hundreds of miles apart. Perhaps older youngsters travel better. I know no more than that and would like someone to enlighten me as well.
  4. Syndicate is the best way forward I think. I'm not bothered where the birds come from just as long as they are good. The Germans are the masters but I don't think they send them till they have been flying round the loft for weeks.
  5. Count me in for a share. All we need now are the birds for the job.
  6. They can but with racing finished there is less chance of contamination from returning racers.
  7. RIP Michael.
  8. On the last occasion I spoke with Ian he only had 1 hen but I doubt if that's there now.
  9. I thought we had gone down this road before!
  10. If you join Facebook and the pigeon genetics page is still going there was a guy on there from the Edinburgh area who breeds them. I think I put someone in touch with him before but I dont remember if it was you or someone else or what the outcome was.
  11. That would have been my father you met he was a joiner and I think he worked on a job in Clydebank. The cat's out the bag now!
  12. The hairiest arsed boy I have ever met
  13. Very good Jake. Your fine crop of hair belies your years. You don't look older than me. I am 68 but always thought our ages were close. You and Derek would have been in the same class at school- lol
  14. Thanks guys I am afraid I shun the limelight. I simply enjoy having pigeons and the fact they win occasionally proves that I am doing my best for them. Jake you missed your vocation you should have gone into P.R. when you left school. That is if such a job existed then and I base that on you being about the same age as me.
  15. It's always good to see good ones home!
  16. Not only do we need more of this type of action but those who want to go there should be allowed to go. Those who question the legality of such action should be made to go to Syria. The only stipulation I would make is that they should have tracking devices fitted so there is no doubt where to locate them when the day of reckoning comes.

    Snrpc

That's good going considering the fact that yesterday was a testing day. Returns seem to have been better than we get from Otterburn on an easy day.
  18. I saw a video of the liberation on face book they are away into beautiful blue skies.
  19. I'm going through but I am just a bit pushed for time. I should be going through Glasgow about 12:30 is someone could meet me somewhere with the bird that would be fine.

    Diy Moult Mix

You can buy the oil from any of these seeds from a supermarket and add them to the grains if you like. The important thing about a moulting mixture is that the birds have sulphur substituted amino acids to help grow new feathers. Normally these are present in the new grains which are marketed as moulting mixture. Most mixtures marketed now contain new grains so mine will have a best all round type mix with the feed from racing mixed into it at about 10%. If you still want to go one better the correct amino acids are available specifically for pigeons. Maybe a visit to Vet Schroeder plus Tolisan web site might give you some ideas.
  22. That's an age thing don't worry I do things like that constantly but it's not painful.

    Well Well

Yes I have to admit that I have had nothing but admiration for the way Lanarkshire federation has been managed recently. Well done to them and good luck for the future.
