  1. Looks like a good race for the Dundee boys. Well done all!
  2. B Kelly Chirnside 16.47 T Keenan Duns 16.56
  3. what speed is that
  4. have said all along it was something unforeseen and not weather related which was the cause. if it was weather there would be far more birds turning up. do we actually know how many are home. as part of the enquiry it should not be difficult to contact each competing member and ask how many of their birds have returned.

    Andy Miller

Well done Andy and also John Duthie, not far away again
  9. Hope you get a diploma. It certainly deserves one. At least you got on the result as a few years ago it wouldnt even have got that honour. Some great performances out of Tours. Well done to all!
  10. I`m sure the Eastbourne result (and messac) was on website within 48 hours. It would be easier if it was compulsory to phone in 1st bird as it is in England.
  11. Sorry didnt put that too well. what I mean is the drop in entries for the longest race is much the same percentage drop as for the gold cup and if you add the two nationals together it is probably less for the longest race
  12. I agree 236 is a poor entry but put in perspective it compares percentage wise with the gold cup entry compared to say 30 years ago. the simple fact is there are not enough fanciers and there is not the same interest in long distance racing. Would be interested to know compared to which long distance clubs we are second rate. Look at the results in this weeks BHW. We often read that there are too many organisations in England for the amount of birds available. BICC Pau international 242 birds. I rest my case!!!
  13. Got to say 72 from Section A for Ypres is also shocking. Best of luck to all from both races
  14. Cant agree to duplication in the Gold Cup. This is the most prestigious race of the year and you have the possibility that the winner would be beaten by a federation bird. This would take the glory away from the winner. Dont have a problem with changing the date. We have a blank week next weekend in the middle of July when the weather should be at its best???.
  15. if you ask nicely they`ll maybe toss your clermont doos on the way back

    Snfc Tours

    brave man. best o luck
  17. well i for one wouldnt touch the controllers job with a barge pole after reading this. hindsight is a great thing and i bet if the snfc had held over on friday they would have been torn to bits for being too cautious. i still think it is more than just fog as if it was banks of fog as suggested a lot more of the birds would have gone around it and would be turning up now. most of the birds seem to have vanished off the face of the earth. another observation - eastbourne was liberated in a fresh west wind. how come there are birds being reported in wales and ireland? doos dont always do what you expect them to do
  18. Exactly so why advocate sticking to the line of flight and then suggest Rennes and Nantes which are on a different line. i e the same line as Messac
  19. what do you mean by the line of flight? Messac is situated between Rennes and Nantes by the way
  20. absolute claptrap. there is 2% of the entry home in race time north of the tay. to say the rest are not good enough is an insult to the pigeons and the fanciers who have waited in vain for their bird to come home. i hope you are man enough to apologise
  21. Well done to all who have timed in what must be apart from 1997 the worst gold cup race ever. Note I did not say hardest because 1190 velocity for the winners is not a hard race. Dont think you can blame the race point. I dont like this chopping and changing every year or two and if rennes and nantes had still been available i think we would still be racing from there. I couldnt see the weather being a problem. No one criticised the liberation on Friday although one or two are now. There may have been fog on the channel but there is fog somewhere on the channel just about every day and in any case the birds would have about 100 miles behind them before they hit the channel and would either go over or around the fog. It seems to me the problem has been early in the race and could have been a hawk strike or something similar which has sent the majority of the convoy in the wrong direction or diving for cover.
  22. I would guess the majority of the doos are not in the uk and are unlikely to be in the forseeable future. if they had crossed the channel yesterday they would not have dried up after 8 pm and there would have been a lot more arrivals today. However the Reims returns dont appear to that good either and they would cross a different part of the channel
  23. Best of luck to all and also those at Reims. Looks a fairly good day with just a few showers. Winner could be anywhere but I predict Section A around 6.00 pm
  24. sorry if i upset you. your previous post gave the impression you were disappointed you only got 15 miles overfly. i certainly wasnt on any soapbox. best of luck tomorrow. in future i will keep my thoughts to myself
  25. I think what overfly you get off Eyemouth is the least of your worries. I`d just be glad to get a doo home
