  1. Just got some vl moulting sublime and load had just been delivered ! No reduction . I also think gem is very good quality and doos raced well so will use it next year . Getting beans for £8.50 .
  2. If its a stoat it will be back and surprised it never killed the rest unless that is all there were in the shed ,it take a decent gap for the mink ti get in but a stoat and a weasel will get through 1inch wire mesh , shitting myself as my avery is done with it . Hope you get the bassa. Gamekeepers used to kill stoats and hang them on the fence until do gooders put there oar in .
  3. Since moving to the west my race loft is a night mare for the damp atmosphere all year round so built an avery the full length so during the day they are outside and what a difference but will be putting a tube heater in shortly for the winter.
  4. I have a 7x6 if you want to have a look ! I am getting a yb loft after the year and would like rid of this it is built as a darkness loft with shutters and sliding door , you are more than welcome to have a look.
  5. Just read a book by a vet fancier who said probiotics are useless but in his summary at the end he gives probiotic sat and Sunday !!! . I use it but no got a clue if it works but I do fill water bucket the night before.
  6. Good to see them include a top fancier with modern day lofts and about hawks pity they never got it on video , wonder if the hawk was ok ???.
  7. The brother had a similar thing when he judged at the Ayr dam park show when again a still very well known west fancier could'nt believe his multiple prize winner never won and confronted my brother ( wrong move ) the brother agreed his was a very nice pigeon but in his opinion the other was better and he was the judge. When just a young guy I put 2 hens in the North Berwick show and won 1st/2nd in the cocks class and r/up best in show to what ended up best 500 ml cock at Edinburgh show , both were later bred and then I just fed them and fooked of to the darts so when they were put in the pens they reacted to the hens and guys thought they had made a mistake lo ,took one hell of a ribbing for a long long time . I used a supplement for budgies because I seen it fall out of Eddie Newcombe pocket at the marking still look for it today . The birds were nest mates and were bred by Peter virtue . Funny how you can recall all those years ago .
  8. I agree del , but think this years ybs will prove to be my best , I hope . When racing with the brother a few years ago our ybs got some kind of virus just at the time they were kitting together so never flew much for weeks and never left the area we missed first race and won most of the rest but they were tossed a lot so it just makes me wonder if they have to range before tossing .
  9. Not sure ranging has much effect IMO , this year my ybs ranged great and flew crap! Last couple of years they never and flew ok with losses just the same ,also this year sent a yb out the garage loft at only 8weeks old still no tossing as a test , sent her to Appleby she took 2 weeks but she made it . Who knows all roads lead to the top am jist no there yet .ps the garage loft has no ybs just old birds .
  10. True he does use sedachol . Should add I also use it but not sure of any difference or what the difference should be , I also give brewers yeast and cod oil but again just my choice or habit.
  11. Reading Ad Schaerlaeckens book , it says that no amount of supplement will make any difference and that all top Dutch fanciers feed the same feed at all times and that a moulting mix is a waste of time as is breeding mix !.
  12. Not at the moment but think it is a step up for me personally going to Lanarkshire wether Airdrie get in or not .and the programme you have came up with suits me fine as a set up for the nats.
  13. I would go to the nat before fed any day ,that's why I race em .
  14. Well I am happy with the programme on what looks like my first year in the Lanarkshire !!.
  15. Breed around a dozen every year , they only get maybe 3 tosses as ybs then about 6 as yearlings and don't get first race till 2 yr old by that time they are more mature and like adults , not been going long on my own but they have held their own .
  16. When was it you wanted my paddock Del ?? Lol well done the big two enjoy your winnings .
  17. My lofts are surrounded by trees and have only lost the one but the birds know when to be up in the sky or in the loft but they can avoid the sparra hen but if or when they attract the attention of Percy they can do very little .
  18. Think now he is a member he will send to inland races next year ! And why not .
  19. Same here have 12pair that have been on open hole all season and only lost 1 top sparra hen (her last supper)but they don,t come out as often as they used to and you should see them trap when danger is about ! Incredible.. Ybs will be going on open hole after the moult.
  20. John Bosworth? Sent 19 to snrpc yb nat .
  21. True mate ! If I had the birds I would fly in both no politics in my loft .
  22. That may be the case del but there are a hell of a lot Snfc members now flying with the snrpc too including our fancier of the year , but I wish we could all fly together but it won't happen , and gold cup and longest for me .
  23. Great post Jamie and those set of results are awesome .
  24. Let some rats in they will kill the mice ,then let a cat in it will kill the rats ,then let the jack Russell in that way you cleaned the lot out lol .
  25. I proposed Stafford for the ybs at our last Agm (midland). And was brushed aside so I am with you on this 100 percent.
