Not good , but as I have found out over the years federation pigeons and 500 ml pigeons are a different creature but think we all know the pigeon game has changed from 60 mls to 500 mls birds are having problems and don't believe it all Percy jmo.

You are getting older mate that is all , times have changed in all things sport our football players and managers were in demand all over the country ,now we have none worth a shiet, just you keep looking at that gold medal your birds won for you and keep going . But it will never be the same again and that is a fact ,but know how you feel as you know . Chin up pal .

Walter can I say from someone who has raced in the east and the west you get just as many hard races as you do here with lots of losses , but where I find the differance is they are lost for good through here .

I know John what I was meaning is how do we know it's a virus if we don't test for other things also birds don't look ill and show no symtoms .

We have already spoken about my season Stuart and it mirrors what you are talking about , I was selling some stock birds so had stock loft birds all tested with cultures done also done race birds nothing was found at all ! Birds were looking great but was 1 hour behind some weeks everybody told me they just were,nt fit but then started losing lots of bloody nice birds so tested again and tested my ybs again nothing then I jagged my ybs then yb sickness took hold so tested again it came back clear and the pigeon I swabbed died but nothing found ,when yb were on mend tested again with cultures done still nothing , I did not time in from either of inland nationals which if you look at my past results I usually get one in results ,so spoke to both David Talbot and Kevin winter about how they were looking great but not performing both told me to send to gold cup as birds had been coming well in training . Still believe something was not right in racing loft ,I used to go in at dusk and all cocks were sitting on the floor (loft sprayed regular ) and loft was silent during the day . Now they are all bouncing clapping the sky's out fighting for territory ??

There has been a lot of talk about the bad national races and the baskets used , there is no doubt the birds drink a lot more from the geraldy aluminium crate if you have'nt witnessed this you won't believe the differance compared to wicker , Last year I borrowed a geraldy crate to basket train my ybs ,I put 20 in the crate for 3 nights I also put the rest of my ybs in my wicker baskets also for 3 nights , in the wicker baskets the birds were lying down and relaxed when they were let out 2 went to drinker , the geraldy crate only one or two lay down but what shocked me was the heat when I opened the top flap to feed them each day and when I let them out 7 went to the drinker yet I watched most go for a drink at some time or other , So maybe the metal crate is better for feed and drink but maybe it can over heat the birds , but for the distance races I am a lover of the shavings for comfort . I ask some of you to try this and see for yourself before shooting me down . Reason this is appearing now is I just read it out my breeding book for 2016 .

Bingo someone thinking out the box , maybe that's why so many can't get back up after giving it their all .

Lost 40+ old birds this year inland racing so it's not the channel that's the problem 12 had flown over 300 mls several times all lost before they hit 300 ml . I think chopping and changing direction is a bigger problem than some think .

Sorry George channel racing will never die , as for PETA think they could go to you and me and every other loft and see a lot worse than giving a pigeon it's liberty that has the choice to come home or not , I think you know what I mean by that . It has been a very bad national season all over uk and Ireland for losses .jmo

There have been bad years in the past and will be again , the national from France is the buzz race and can never change ! Ask all the top distance men and they will dust themselves down and get on with it . But agree there must be changes in the information we get about weather and other organisations in same area not libbing when we do and let's get video of liberation and pictures of the channel sent back to the members as the more info the better . I was lucky to get a good doo in gold cup but it was still a disaster of a race , but I know how it feels not getting one as I never timed from 1st or 2nd national plus many more over the years so do know the hurt . But the gold cup HAS to be from France or national racing has bit the dust , This is only my opinion on way forward . Colin

Thanks for that. Me personally I used colombovac and never again . That's the last twice I have used it and had problems afterwards .
