  1. Put the link below into your search engine. It's worked for the guys I've sent some out to. http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/47968-have-i-got-youngbird-sickness/page__p__668472__hl__graviola__fromsearch__1entry668472
  2. They spooked a lot of doos last year. Massive flocks of gulls were eating them which is what spooked the doos. A lot would not trap, there was a thread on this site about it last year.
  3. That was a long post, only thing is, I can't remember what it was about.
  4. Club result independent of the North of Scotland Fed taking the dog leg into consideration. Well done to Carlton for winning the first young bird race. Very poor returns 3 members sent 44 birds and clocked 17. Brechin YB 230711.doc
  5. Well done to Carlton for winning the last old bird race and to Jock for taking second place. Hastings 02 July 2011.doc
  6. Thanks Daviedoo and you are quite right about the comments. Best of luck for today, Jim
  7. Nought wrong with that!
  8. Try slowing the music down!
  9. I started training about 4 weeks ago with 30 youngsters and am now down to 16, they come home in ones and twos every time, between me and another fancier we loose 2 or 3 every toss. It does not matter where we take them they have to run the gantlet to get home, the place is crawling with BOPs.
  10. It’s a food supplement called Graviola and comes from the bark and leaves of a tree that grows in the Tropics, give it a Google. The front of the container says “Supports Immune Functionâ€. You can buy it on the web for about £12:00 for 100 capsules. The quantity you had was from 5 capsules. If each bird for treatment is given a dose the size of a match head, each capsule would treat between 8 and 10 birds so £12:00 gives you enough for 800 to 1,000 birds. The bird I gave it to was in such a poor state that I should have culled it really; it’s out flying with the rest of the youngsters now this product was its last chance. I would not exceed the match head size dose as it can drop blood pressure.
  11. Myself and another one of the Inverness boys train out East of Elgin, the birds come back over a period of hours in ones and twos with two missing every time. I'm down to 18 youngsters now from 30. I have still not had areply from Alex salmond's office about my claim for compo. Don't suppose I ever will.
  12. On the same page as the link at the top of this thread you can find this link: http://raptorpolitics.org.uk/2011/07/12/bowland-raptor-report-%e2%80%93-a-report-the-public-are-not-allowed-to-read-or-know-about/#more-4884 They say the Peregrine and Hen Harrier breading was very poor but this is what they said about the Good Owl. Eagle Owl – Surprise, Surprise. Two territories 100 % Successful Two pairs of eagle owls successfully reared broods of young against all the odds this year. Three owlets fledging from one site and three from the second; a good result. In addition even more good news for once, there have been no rumours of any hen harriers being predated by eagle owls so far. The one major obstacle facing the owlets this year, should any migrate onto adjoining shooting estates their future will be short in this world I am sorry to say.
  13. Yer welcome, just happy to help.
  14. Hi Mr Yorkie, the bird was slipped in Edinburgh on Wednesday 6th July. I think my daughter had a text to say it had arrived home safe.
  15. I suggested a couple of weeks ago that we should send photos of our hawked doos to the Government and ask for damages when I found an article in the BHW (1st April issue) said that a Austrian court had ruled in favour of pigeon fanciers getting compo from the State. I emailed Mr Salmond and copied in the SHU on Sunday (photos attached) so will keep you updated if I ever get a reply. It was shocking what happened. Most of the youngsters were sitting on the house roof (exercising) when young Bobby landed amongst them, he walked about six feet with his left wing hanging down then died. He just stopped moving and rolled of the roof, I thought someone had shot him at first. He landed on the path with a right thump about four feet away from me. His backend was marked and half his tail was missing and there was a single talon hole in the centre front of his chest that went through his crop and punctured his heart I assume. We should all be writing off to the people in the “big hoose†until they start listening to us.
  16. That's why you shouldn’t start training them until two or three weeks before the first race. They can be flying great around the loft or ranging for hours at a time but once you start training you need to keep it up regular as they just want to sit around after you start to take them down the road.
  17. Tyke and Frank-123, PM me your addresses and I will send you something to try. I pride myself in getting youngsters well if they have any problems associated with young bird sickness, green slimy muck, bringing up corn, corn packed in the crop etc. I only ever use antibiotics as a last resort, only three or four of my birds have had antibiotics in the last four or five years. I use colloidal silver and elderberry juice and the best I’ve done is had them out training within three days. It can take up to two weeks though if they have caught something from wild doos coming into the loft. A couple of weeks ago I had one that I was ready to give up on after more than two weeks but I tried some thing new, which worked magic. It had green slimy muck and I had been hand feeding it for a while because it was just a bag of bones. Eleven O clock at night I gave it some of this new stuff and when I got up for work at six it was standing at the feeder eating, not only that, it's muck had changed to more like watery layers meal. It was put out with the rest of the youngsters a few days later and is doing great now. I will be more than happy to send you some to test. If you let the site know it works then I will publish the name of the product, it's very cheap but it's pointless me telling everybody the name of it, they all rush out and buy it, then find it's useless. All I can say is worked for me so you are welcome to try it if you want.
  18. As you can see Katie, the North of Scotland boys have bent over backwards to help get the bird home. Unfortunatly I did not see the message untill tonight, so I am very sorry for letting you down but we can still follow the original plan. I will liberate the bird from Edinburgh next Wednesday morning. If the weather is bad I will leave her in Edinburgh with feed and water with a relative who is an exfancier who will let her out the next good day. There shouldn't be weather problems this time of the year anyway.
  19. That's it as a Word Document Black WF. Can you open it now? Fed Doc fro SHU.doc

  22. GB 10 x 28862 came in tonight in good condition, very tame, walked over to it and picked it up, takes feed out the hand. Any takers? Called the number on it's wing and text but no reply.
