  1. Here is the link, Oldyellow posted it not Owen. http://www.pigeonnetwork.com/articles/NigelCowood.html
  2. I think it was Owen that posted a link from another site. Birds were to be paired through the wires then on the fifth day the paired cocks were locked in another section. The bull cock was then left with the caged hens for 15 minutes then one of the hens was to be set free. Cock does the business then is taken away for 30 minutes rest, then start again with another hen being set free. The first hen was caged again of course. The guy on the link reckoned he could do 11 hens and all the eggs would be good. He said that the cock would be able to keep this up till the eggs were laid. The paired through the wires cocks then sit the eggs as normal. I have tried it this year with my race hens and my 3 best cocks, I don't think I have had much success. First 2 eggs are hatching just now though.

  4. Don't know if I have posted in the correct place? This was on the BBC website today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20456782 Britain's top code-breakers say they are stumped by a secret code found on the leg of a dead pigeon. The remains of the bird were found in a chimney in Surrey with a message from World War II attached. Experts at the intelligence agency GCHQ have been struggling to decipher the message since they were provided with it a few weeks ago. They say it may be impossible to decode it without more information - some of which could come from the public. The message was discovered by David Martin when he was renovating the chimney of his house in Surrey. Among the rubbish, he found parts of a dead pigeon including a leg. Attached to the leg was a red canister. Inside the canister was a thin piece of paper with the words "Pigeon Service" at the top and 27 handwritten blocks of code. This was given to GCHQ at the start of the month. There is a place on the page to leave comments on what the coded message may be saying. Maybe you could leave comments along the lines of - Warning in the next fifty years children of Pigeon War Vets will be condemned to death by the policies of the RSPB and may well be gone by the year 2020. This may be an opportunity to get across to the public what is happening to our sport. You could also maybe leave the names and stories of some of the VC (Dickins)holders. Free publicity!

  12. I've just spoke to Mrs Speerman again and she said that the bird has been caught again. She also said that this is a fantastic site and she was glad I told her about it. She also mentioned a very nice chap called Paul. Well done everyone that helped!
  13. Well done Bossy, another happy fancier. The non-fancier would need to be contacted first as the owner said that he had released the bird but will be easy to catch again.
  14. HI Paul, The lady called me at tea-time today I will PM you the details.

  18. Hi Lee, I've been told there should be three for me 2 put on the transporter from North of Scotland clubs and 1 put on at Brechin. Can you confirm this is the case one will have a C Reid stamp the other 2 my own. If they are there I will come to collect tomorrow if that's OK, Jim
  19. Hi Fifer, thanks for your help yet again. I have been in contact with Blue Checker pied and Jade so i think it's sorted, many thanks to all that's helped - Jim I will be going to pick up strays from Davy at Buckie on Sunday and know that there will be at least one Elgin doo there, which I have been asked to slip on my way back to Inverness. If there is any more Elgin doos I will do the same unless anyone from Elgin askes me not to slip them. Hope you all have a good race this week, all the best, Jim.
  20. I have a bird with a fancier in Forfar. Is there anybody in the area that could put it on the North of Scotland Fed transporter at Brechin on Saturday, please?
