  1. Getting boring now. So the washer must have worked for you then. Rather sad that anyone would kill healthy birds that turned out to be the wrong sex. Sorry I even switched the iPad on today. OUT!
  2. Just been out to try it Chad. I got it the wrong way round on my original post. Hens go in circles cocks straight. Why don't you just try it and see. As for parrots, if I was spending thousands on a bird I would want a bit paper with scientific evidence on it.
  3. Get someone to hold the bird and someone else to hold the string and don't tell them the sex. Simples!
  4. Try it on proven cocks and hens and see if it's a load of rubbish. You'll find on old birds it's very seldom wrong.
  5. Hang a copper washer on a bit string. Dangle it an inch away from the backs of a couple of proven cocks and it will swing in a circle. Do the same with a couple of proven hens and it will swing in a straight line. I may have got the circle and straight line the wrong way round but doing it on your old birds will confirm for you. So far I have found it 90 per cent correct. I'm not winding you up. Try it on proven cocks and hens.
  6. If the eggs are very special can you not get a club mate to put them under something and maybe let him have one of the youngsters? Second worst solution would be to get rid of the two smallest looking chicks. Worst solution would be to leave four under the hen and end up with four very poor youngsters. I know it's not the answer your are looking for, has anyone else got a better one?
  7. Now there IS a good idea!
  8. £1:95 for 500 ml and it works! http://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/surgical-spirit-500ml/prd-m5l
  9. Surgical spirit worked on my two hens with only one application and it cost next to nought.
  10. I have had a look at the North of Scotland Fed boundary map and the boundary passes just north of Aviemore. Jim
  11. Saw thead on here last year about the same subject. I had two hens, one with small patch on front of chest the other had a completely bald neck. Solution was dabbing with a cotton bud dipped in surgical spirit. The mites live under the skin or in the quill holes. Within two days the one with the small patch was sorted but after about a week there was no noticeable difference with the bald neck. However after about a month (this bird had been getting worse for about 18 months) the bird was completely sorted. Surgical spirit is the quick and cheap answer.
  12. Thanks I will speak to the Fed President, blue chequer pied for an answer. Kincraig may well be within the boundary but I will check.
  13. So why bother setting boundaries then???
  14. Chris from Aviemore flew in the Forres, Nairn and Inverness club for years. The Fed boundaries have just changed so I will check with the Fed President if Kincraig is still within the Fed area. Jim, club sec.
  15. SHU £28, I think it's for 1000 the letter does not say for how many.
  16. That's a cracker, Sapper! Happy New Year to you when it comes!!

  18. On the laptop now. Have clicked on the Union Jack at the top right corner, it says English but nothing happens when I click it or when I click on the German flag. Found the translate button your talking about but get this message when I ask to change Dutch to English: Sorry, Forbidden. You don't have permission to access this URL on this server. 20. Thanks, I'm on an IPad, maybe that's my problem, I'll try the laptop later. Jim.

  23. Hens are waiting as soon as you want them Ronnie. Glad the problem was SORTED so quickly!
  24. Well done Sapper. Thanks for posting this. Tefelon Tony will be OK though. It was on the news yesterday that Afgan poppy production is at it's highest ever, over 200,000 hectares. Is this the legacy Tony kept going on about before he became the Middle East Peace Envoy?
