Charity Latebred Sale Organised By Davie Young & Jim Cullen
JohnQuinn replied to a topic in Notice Board
Yes, numbers 1 to 36 Gareth, will need to be robbing the piggy bank for this one. -
Thanks for posting Gordon, have had a lot of contact regarding the remaining race program but rule 32/b is clear. "In Young bird races, can be brought back to another race point or return them to the club. The birds WILL return to MISSED race point the following week and races put back a week." losing the final race point of Uttoxeter. This i have to say does not suit my own personal wishes regarding the final race point, it is the race for my Da's Memorial Trophy and it was always his/my wish that the final race would be from 200mls+ but unfortunately Uttoxeter will no longer be raced from this season, but it is the rule and that's that.

Had 2 waiting on me when i got to the loft this morning and another came late morning, so 20/25. Been a strange race weekend with some guys getting great returns and others like myself with big percentage losses.

Well done Alec, well out in front -

Somewhere between 24 and 30 depending on the forecast tomorrow, got some i Need to get to next weeks race so if its dodgy they'll stay at home and get trained.

We can only pee with the pecker we've got. NOTHING can level it out when flying from a Southerly race point into Scotland, but at least the doos that you compete against have more or less fought the same conditions as you. I mean, the guys in Ayrshire wouldn't have to race against the guys fae Denny or Dunipace as they do just now. When racing from a Southerly race point its "fairer" if the guy beating you is either North or South of you. Jmo mind.

In a word "embarrassing"

For what its worth, i would section the country in corridors rather than the traditional sectioning. 4 corridors from east to west, they would be East, East Central, West Central and West. So far up the country they would change to N/E, N/E/C, N/W/C N/W. That would give 8 sections to compete and the wind would be more or less the same for everyone in your section thus enabling just about anyone to win their section. Is that as clear as MUD or is it explained properly??

The only forecast i have seen this week said we will experience unseasonally High Winds and showers, the fly in the ointment is that it will be EAST winds so i will be very careful what, if any, i will be sending. However like some others i will make my final decision on Friday when i HOPE the forecast will be more accurate.

Am going back to Rubber rings, not for finance or convenience but for the personal touch that familiarises me with each bird in the loft. Since starting with the ETS clock i find i canny even remember ring numbers or the breeding of my birds and i don't like that situation one bit. This season's Yb's i know already and we've only had 3 races, on a Friday night i like to hand my birds over in numerical order (though i failed miserably last Friday night) since using ETS this has not been possible as i didnae learn their ring numbers. This Yb season i have to check every bird as it arrives to check its number and record its position to the loft. By the end of the season i will know them all "personally" and this in turn will allow me to make my pairings up for next season without reference to my breeding or racing records. Just like the "GOOD OLD DAYS".

IMO, NO YOUNG BIRD should ever be reported, as stated in an earlier post there are stray centres all over the country and the bird should be sent there to be repatriated with the owner. Being the stray officer for Lanarkshire i come across birds who have almost flown themselves into the grave, and others that could win a show class never mind fly home. Young birds imo, get confused easily when flying in a batch that gets hit by Percy and they will seek refuge where ever they can when they realise they are lost, as pigeon fanciers, we should as a body of men, tend to these birds until the opportunity arises to put them into your club stray basket on a Friday night. The owner would probably have it back for the Sunday, then it is his decision as to the birds fate. JMO John.

Aye i see what ye mean, i was just surprised when reading the other results from Fife and the likes, with their velocities being kinda on par with what we got ourselves on Saturday. Atb for the coming races. Cheers John.
-
You're welcome, its clear you think a lot of them so i really do hope you get most of them, if not all, back soon. ATB.
-
Was this race flown Yesterday? If so are they velocities correct mate.

I was waiting on 3 overnight and had 2 first thing this morning, one of which had managed to dodge a percy attack (a few secondary feathers missing) but tbh i didnae expect to see it at all, as its the worst reared bird in the team.
-
Hope you get your pigeons Yvonne. There were a few NEHU doos at the SHU stray centre this morning but i'm pretty sure there were no HAR marked ones. Seemed most were from the WAN/R/P??? area of your union.
