  1. Was at it for the first 30 lots, great sale and as Bill says, very well run. If that total is correct then its been a great night for all concerned, buyers, breeders and organisers big WELL DONE
  2. VERY WELL DONE to Gerry, terrific result.
  3. Only 1 more came about lunch time today. That makes it 4/11 and i'm just as pee'd off today with it as i was yesterday when the race was unfolding. I don't attach blame for my losses to anyone, i'm just dumbfounded at having such a bad race when my season was going really well compared to others regards returns.
  4. Personally i think its a good idea for all races, Yb's will be more or less in their home vicinity even when over shooting their loft and it would be easy enough for them to make their loft when they realise their mistake. There will of course be loses but i doubt VERY much joint convoying would be responsible for any more losses than you's would normally experience. JMO, even though i'm no fae up your way.
  5. Hi Danny, you are not alone in thinking we should get new transporters, however your quote only covers 4,300 birds. We have more than that for more than half the races in the Fed, question is how do we accommodate members when there are 6,000+ birds.
  6. The following clubs have strays to be picked up today 02/09/2012, at 4pm please. Cambuslang, Burnbank, Carluke, Low Waters, Uddingston, Lanark&Dist, Greenfield, Glenmavis, New Stevenson, Clarkston, Larkhall, Coatbridge, Dalzell and Newmains. The stray centre will be open next week too and there will be strays to get picked up next Sunday same time.
  7. Canny keep the wee man doon, HUGE well done to him from me.
  8. Aye well done to Danny, seen him sneaking a toss in the other day so must have done the trick.
  9. Ave had a of a race today, only 3 back from 11 sent, i have been more than pleased with my Yb returns this year too, but today has gutted me.
  10. For years we had 12 pairs in a 6' x 6' and our best birds always seemed to come from that section. That said, in those days the birds were cleaned out 3 times a day and the water twice per day, if you were gonna keep them in deep litter or are busy and maybe cut the odd corner then i would suggest 8 pairs. jmo.
  11. Will have 11 away to Charnock Richards, 156mls to me.
  12. Top doo man with Top doos always ends with BIG results. Well Done.
  13. My last one was there this morning, heard of others getting their stragglers turning in too. So considering the way they were spread out it has turned out to be maybe the best race we've had this season. jmo.

    Poor Crops

Aye Geordie, the price of Maize is gonna hit an all time high price next year. Usually either the USA or Russia have a bumper when the other is poor so can trade with it, this time though the problem is Global and the price will reflect it.

    Yb Losses

Then they'll no learn anything Davie, kinda defeats the "training" to get them out the batch aspect BTW, my clock is set every week and every week i time in and get ma clock run off, so my lot aren't trainers though they might as well be some weeks

    Yb Losses

Funny you choose to single out fanciers, like myself, who use rubbers on their Yb's, as stray officer for Lanarkshire i assure you the VAST MAJORITY of the strays have ETS rings on their legs, so not all birds with rubber rings are trainers, sick/unfit or otherwise a risk to the birds around them in the basket. Never in all my years have i sent a bird to a race, or toss that did not have the ability to get home with the rest of the convoy.
  17. I didnae see how the doo got away today but i'm fair impressed with it for getting away. The speed was quite something too, from the hawk as well.
  18. Aye right enough, might be some mileage in yer idea then.

    Bop Attack

Had 4 doos back from the race today sitting on the loft with some old doos when they firstly froze, then scattered, just as they did scatter the hen sparr came round the side of the loft and was on the tail of one of my birds for about 40 yards before they disappeared behind a house. Next thing i seen was the bop heading for the heights, MINUS ma doo ........It was some chase though, i was sure she was gonna pin it considering it was just home fae the race and a bit worse for wear looking.
  20. The wind is definitely colder the higher you go Lewis, so that might explain it.
  21. Take her over to the Hup Lee in Motherwell for the lunchtime buffet Alan Cheep as chips too so plenty left for the sale at night
  22. Well done to ma wee mate Watty
  23. Don't want to be a fly in the ointment, but would it no stop the doos preening them selves?? That widnae be too good
  24. Ended the day with 11/12. They were VERY spread out, i only 5 doos in the first hour after timing in and my last 2 came at 6.20pm then the last at 7.05pm. So i consider ma self fortunate to be only 1 adrift. I timed at 11.55.22 and might even have won it if i'd got a good trap, as my neighbour shouted to me that John Dougal had one going to him when mine was flying around the loft John wins again i think
  25. Usually on warm days with blue shies is when they'll get up into the heavens. Can't say i've ever paid attention to what they were like (hot/cold) so canny help there. We were getting them like that from the first Appleby race this year and like you i had no idea which direction the first ones came from.
