  1. If yer first i won't mind being behind ye, JUST!! behind ye mind
  2. Tae time a nice wee Fife bred Dk Cheq Ck in the yearling Derby Brian, and be up amongst the winners with it
  3. Visibility doesn't look too bad Archie, would think the sun will soon burn it off, best of luck today for a good race and returns.
  4. Very Well done Watty, just hitting top form at the right time of the seaon
  5. Tell you's what, go out tomorrow andpull one of the under side feathers from your birds' tail and come back on in 4 weeks and tell us all what condition they doos are in compared to those that are left alone. Trust me i wouldn't put something like this up for a Wind up, it's far too serious for that when you hit the Channel races.
  6. Aye George, in years gone by fanciers pulled a tail feather as an aid to conditioning, before sending them to their chosen race.
  7. I got 2 Ck's back on Saturday and both have only a Handful of feathers left in their tails. For the Politically minded, I'm no saying anything about the big losses or the cause of them!! i'm only stating a fact. On the upside, their tail feathers growing will bring them right into condition for the end of next month.
  8. That's a Thread stoppin answer Gareth, That 1 bird caper is Not for the Faint hearted. On the sporting/fun side of things Derek, i will take ye up on it with your full race team included, loser pays £25 to the PB fund.?
  9. Ohh, incidently! I've lost 3 at training. BUT i'm down 16/24 Ck's, my hens have faired much better, ONLY! dropped 8/26. However on the up side there are still plenty of experienced doos from 2011 to 2009 still here, so all else going well i should be able to have a wee go at the SNFC races and especially the Ypres race in the Fed. So i suppose every has a silver lining, just no easy tae see it at times.
  10. It's been rough all round Derek, take yer time on yer decision, who knows the wans that have survived might just kick on and get ye back in the mood for them. Big decision mate, take yer time. Atvb John.
  11. Would have to agree with ye there Derek, hard enough to win with doos that have had a perfect moult let alone those who've moulted poorly.
  12. She never had a bad moult Derek but the Velocity of the Fed race was way lower than the SNFC race, imo her best performance was in the Yb race. However i take your point because on the day she won the Yb race i had my cash on another Stunning looking Blue Cheq hen 19696 and when 97 dropped that day i was so excited i mistakenly declared 96 had done it. Not until my Da picked her up did i know it was in fact 97. She had moulted her Nest feathers and was a Swan compared to the Ugly duckling that left the nest. Ps. How many would survive in almost ANY loft if they turned out of the nest in that condition?? Not Many i'd say!! which i suppose was my point in the first place
  13. Here's a wee TRUE story. Su 97 L 19697 was a Blue Cheq hen, who when she left the nest, had Fret marks in 3 places across her tail. There were Pin feathers sticking out of it everywhere. The flights were "washed out" looking and she was generally a sorry looking excuse for a Racing pigeon. One day my Da and ma self were admiring the team in the loft when i piped up "see that thing we'd be as well rid of it" to which came the reply "just leave it where it is, it's not doing any harm" i argued that it took the good look off the team but my Da was having none of it and it was left alone. In the final race of the season she topped the Fed, Gulkie split our first 2 doos that day or we would have been 1st + 2nd Open. Her velocity was 992ypm and Gulkies doo was on 956 with our 2nd bird doing 954 so i was No walk in the park race. 4 yrs later in 2001 she was 3rd West Section SNFC Hastings. My Point is...............maybe we're no as clever as we like tae think we are!!
  14. Well she's obviously relishing what yer doing with her the now that's for sure. Come tae think of it what's a 3 x SNFC diploma winner doing winning fae 50 odd miles, way about a mile and a quarter up her sleeve. lol Well dome again, even better knowing her history now.
  15. Well done Tam, that's some winner, 39m ypm out in front
