Uddingston & District Newbury

That is a Fantastic win, well done Kevin -
The hen i got yesterday and her mate, a 2 yr old Ck will go to Ypres and anything else that unexpectedly sticks its wing up tae volunteer. My Alencon hens laid yesterday so them and their mates' mean i have 4 for that. 2 Yearling hens i got last week from Leicester, are prematurely being brought back out of retirement and will hopefully lay by Wednesday to go to Maidstone with another 2 x 2yr olds. Had 2 ear marked for the longest race, a 4yr old Ck and 3 yr old hen, but a might just add them to my Maidstone/Alencon entries. Doubtful if i will go to Clermont.

I've noticed Jim's name climbing the results recently so this win is no surprise, Well Done

Well done Davy, good winner ........I note there are 101ypm between the first 6 doos, says a lot about the difficulties they faced.
-
My hat is off to you's Tom, excellent racing You're having a great season, keep it up. atvb John.

Was wondering how yesterday's race will affect the rest of your plans for up coming races?? All comments welcome.
-
Yes they were older doosj No yearings in the team. They all flew 5 races including Newark at 225 mls on 25th of May and had 50mls toss Tuesday 25'ish Wednesday I have no idea why they were soooo poor but am gonna spend some time looking in the morror tae look for the problem and answers to them.

None this morning Still 1/5 who came at 5.20'ish last night. Thought she was nearer 7pm but she was there before ma mam went out at 5.25. Don't feel one bit better about the "race" though.
-
I have just read the entire thread and congratulate All the members who have timed in, those with an early bird especially well done I've had a stinker, 1/5 that came some time between 6pm and 7.30pm according to ma we maw that is. I had long since abandoned ship in disgust at 5pm. Rarely have i had a worse days racing.

Well imo, the situation at marking stations regards lack of volunteers is true, there are never TOO many wanting to work. This could be for a variety of reasons from lack of self confidence handling other fanciers birds to no being able to work an ets base station. What's the answer?? Am no sure there is an answer to this, because those willing to wait will wait and those who want to see the birds basketed and on there way asap, will always roll their sleeves up and get stuck in. As for the website, i agree with Walter, that in itself an achievement, only kiddin Walter. I cannot for the life of me work out why it has to go to an AGM to get info posted onto it, on a VERY regular basis too, that is Exactly why it is there in the first place. Obviously, to me anyway, the Secretary should do this and if Andy canny work it then get someone to show him how its done, because wan thing's for sure he ain't stupid. If for any reason he canny get to grips with it then another at the top table should take on this Duty, cos that;s what it is, its the Duty of the officials to keep every member as well informed as possible and by whatever means possible to them to carry this out. We didnae need to sit at Newhouse last night for Lanarkshire Fed race only members, and as it turned out some other fanciers competing in the SNFC only, but we all felt it our Duty to the Fed members to be there and let them get their birds marked without having to wait in a long SNFC que to get away. IMO If that attitude was adopted by the officials the members would benefit 10 fold.

Must say i find it Very Strange that there are members on this Forum, who don't get it when it comes to George, Wullie and now Paul. You see George has been a Master Dooman in every sense of the word for EVER, now if your that man's son, your gonny be a Master Dooman, WHY? because George's attention to detail is just as strong and observant when it comes to educating his family, if yer lucky enough to have those 2 as yer Da AND Granda!!, odds are yer gonny be a Master dooman. IMO...When they men see and handle a pigeon, they see things and read into those things different conclusions to what we others see and conclude. Ye could put camera's everywhere tae watch and still no see what They see. To even suggest "Try Harder" and you'll beat them, is about as ridiculous a statement as i could imagine, that it comes from fanciers who only Look in is perhaps your only defence. You do every other fancier in Lanarkshire a disservice to suggest they don't try as hard as they Possibly can to win, week in week out. Just so happens our best isn't good enough Most years but i can assure you neither would you, no matter "How Hard" you try,

Would anyone seriously like to hear M.O, on this??? Form an orderly Que. lol

I can feel a 7.30'ish lib coming on. Am working 'til 2pm and am sure the committee won't let them up until ave got time tae get back at the dookit about 2.30pm. OR!!! maybe the mist will be hanging in the air and will need an hour or 3 fae sun up to burn back. jmo. Hope we all get a little more out of it than we have hoped for.

This news is a complete shock to me. RIP Wullie and God Rest your soul. John Quinn.

When a think about it, the dog must have drifted with Hills because when i looked around the bookies online i'm certain it was 25's with them, stand to be corrected though due to a sudden slip into senility lately!
-
Thanks for the tip Boab, i'll have another slice of the cake tomorrow
-
The final is on the 29th of June, but if he gets to the semi's, i guarantee you won't be getting 25/1 about him.

Aye the wan oan the left is a ringer fur'im

Got away from Newhouse about 10,25. It was hard to keep count of the baskets, because they were loading them onto the transporter to make room for more empty baskets. I would GUESS! that about 1500 doos went through there tonight, but as i say it was hard to keep track of them. If someone told me it was more like 2000 i couldn't argue, felt like 2000 though!!!

Love the dogs too mate, this one can trap, has plenty of pace and has no distance issues, so with luck in running i might do ok. There was another of the "LEMON" dogs entered called Lemon Velvet but it has been withdrawn for some reason. Cheers, John.

Why Didnt They Make It ?
JohnQuinn replied to andy Burgess's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
IMO...Good health only carries the birds so far, then its down to motivation and fitness. It may well be that we lost good birds last Saturday, however the fact is they weren't good enough on this particular day. Good doos need to be in good form and if not they can go down just as easily as the ordinary doos at shorter distances. Sending doos to get them fit for following week or a future race, is IMO! one of the biggest mistakes fanciers make. If a bird has flown 500mls last year and goes down at 150/250 mls this year, it simply means it was in better form when asked to fly 500mls than it was when being sent to a shorter race. Mind this is JMO!!! Ps....Some doos will always perform well, i am referring to the IF's BUT's and MAYBE'S, who have flattered to deceive on 1 or 2 occasions in the past. Pps....Bear in mind that EXCEPTIONAL pigeons can, and do!!! still fall foul of the Pylons or the Percy's when we send them racing. -
I've been betting a dog called LEMON PLUTO for the 2013 Greyhound Derby which takes place on 29/06/2013. Started betting it at 50's down to 33's. It is now best priced (that i can find) at 25/1. Recommend an Each Way bet on it and if it gets to the Final you're on a winner PS......It could just as easy get clipped on the first bend of the first heat and be OUT, but that's part of the risk with the Dogs !!!
