sapper756 Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 This came up on my Face Book page; Raptor Attacks On Racing Pigeons Petition Tip 1: Feed the crows. Attracting crows to your property can deter hawks as crows dislike hawks and chase them away. Any comments or opinions?
greenbar Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 We feed them most days here, not long in letting u know Percy is about.

moscow master Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 A myth I've a craw wid 150yds from me with around 500 or more craws and still get decimated with bop
red dog Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 I throw eggs etc on top of the compost box for the hoodie crows and i have some chickens laying in outside boxes, whose eggs the crows are allowed to steal, as chickens lay at different times of the day it keeps the crows interested and floating about most of the shift. My youngsters are given a breakfast then locked out for 6 hours very few are lost round the loft . If you see one rook its a crow if you see 500 crows they are rooks.
bullcock Posted October 26, 2017 Report Posted October 26, 2017 A myth I've a craw wid 150yds from me with around 500 or more craws and still get decimated with bopWe still get hit? But the crows can give a few seconds warning if they see the bop.

A friend of mine estimates that there are about 6 pair in his area.2 years ago there were none.Defo not birds that had been released as they had no identity rings on !! Have read that natural Scottish population is gradually increasing and are moving more to the east from they’re more normal Ranges in the west and upland areas
THE FIFER Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 you will only get one nest in a tree with carrion crows, with the rookies the trees are full of them,
Cliftonlad Posted October 28, 2017 Report Posted October 28, 2017 Crows are fine for alarms but I have lost many young birds for there first flight they scare the sh** out o them ..
big blue bar Posted October 29, 2017 Report Posted October 29, 2017 We've had a pair of ravens nesting in trees at the back off our loft and have witnessed them chasing percy away .also have lots of gulls which deter percy too, , never had them bother our doos but my mate in Montrose has had the crow enter his loft and kill some of his youngster a couple off years ago
