You were INVITED to join the LSC, applications were non existent. You were either considered good enough to join or you weren't. Look at the SNFC Section E winners from whatever era you choose and invariably the 1st Sec went to a LSC member.

Invited? smacks of Elitism ? not what the pigeon fancy is about.

Martin and King were the Lanarkshire social circle gold cup winners in both 1982 and 1983 Alan and was great pals with Hugh Martin for years and never heard this although that's not to say this did not happen. :partick-thistle-Crest:

Invited? smacks of Elitism ? not what the pigeon fancy is about.

It wasn't about the pigeon fancy, it was about like minded men who were in the same circumstance on a Saturday, working and couldn't get to wait for birds.

You were Invited into the club if you were in the same circumstance, that's what the fancy IS ABOUT. Friendship and respect. The numbers were limited at 60, line needed drawn somewhere, and when soneone Died a position was availale and some other like minded and same circumstance fancier was invited to fill the spot. In those days there were 100's of fanciers in that position but the club set its total at 60 and that has stayed in place ever since.

If there was a full quota then applications were refused, if ye were a pain in the a*se trouble maker yer application was refused tae. Quite right anaw.

I think it was 1966 when I was invited entry to the Social Circle by the Whitelaw's from Blackridge "West Lothian" and it comes to mind Hammy Sloan "North West", Sec of the S.H.U. and am sure the Smillie Bros "Fauldhouse" too were part of having me as a member and I only declined due to racing on a Wednesday. Absolutely nothing to do with religion or gender, Only like minded fanciers.
