Very difficult to answer is this one. It all depends how well the fancier can hold the pigeon which is down to the experience and confidence of the fancier.

My reply can only be if the bird fits your hands comfortably, tapering nicely from a strong front across the wing butts and a downward sweep to a narrow tail the balance is fine.

Hope this helps

I hold it with two hands pulling the wings apart and legs....this leaves the tail pointing out hopefully straight.... i then lift the pigeon up and down and side to side gently...the pigeon thats tail stays straight the whole time I consider good balance

What I will say is I only do this occasionally I dont know or don't care if it has any bearing on a good or bad pigeon

Other than that I'll see billy at the club on Friday I'll ask him to explain it to me lol

FPMSL young gun :emoticon-0136-giggle: . For years watched van Hannah photographing national / Fed toppers . And some of them you wouldn't give house room. But one thing was for sure they were all winners . For me it's all shapes all sizes and all colours. 100% health and motivation wins races. OMHO :animatedpigeons::peace-sign-258:

Billy I never said that they don't come in all shapes and sizes I also said that I don't know or don't care about wether a pigeon has a straight tail or not.

What I will say I've never handled a national winner or top federation winner that handles like a bag of shiet with it's tail pointing to the sky (I've handled quite a few)

Moon pointers as my mate Archie refers to then.

If he buys a pigeon unseen and it's a moon pointer it goes straight back where it came from.

Just my own thoughts don't think you can be taught good or bad ,you have either got the knack or you haven't

You have to learn yourself what bird suits your hand

Last year got pick of two youngsters from a friend he had twelve in the basket

One was my pooler at littlehampton this year she had already been first to loft twice sadly dropped her but that did not make her bad she just got unlucky as she was exceptional, still got the other every bit as good

Also last year got pick of ten in basket from friends ,young cheq stood out 54 open littlehampton

Got choice from Ralston and picked blue hen from basket

It turned out to be from his gold cup winner

So there you go lads give me the pick of yours and I'll leave with your best lol :emoticon-0136-giggle:
