To be honest its been long over due that you don't have to phone in your first bird at least. It might have saved a lot of aggro if it had been done properly?

The SNFC has fallen behind in adopting this, a bit like Football with the goal line issue.

Which is a shame because it puts all doubt, rumours, etc. to bed.

Don't know if it costs a lot to set up and run, but more than worth it. I do know that they would have had to have a good phone service on Mon to handle the amount of arrivals.

Down here in England we have to call in or email the first bird in all the large organisations, BBC, CSCFC, NFC, even the Combine I am in does this for the Bordeaux race.

I can only speak from experience on this but I have been lucky enough to have been ''enquired'' about twice, once in the BBC when one of the committee called one of my club officials that he was friends with to check that I was an honest fancier. He later told me about this. The other was in an Internat when the President of the Inter club, called the President of our distance club to go and verify my pigeon, he replied I don't need to because I bred it,and he's just phoned me to say he's in!

Did it bother me that these men were checking up on me? Not in the least because I knew that these men were doing their job to keep this great sport open and above board for all.

We should also be able to text or email in our first bird, this would save a lot of money. I wouldn't say 4 hours after timing as idiots would wait til the last minute before reporting their bird, but I would say 2 hours, then we can do away with the cheat scenario further up the country and also have a decent update of how the race is going.

im in at work from 06.30 all day during the week and the wife works aswell

so who would sit in my garden all day waiting for my doos

In fact I heard that 1 of the doos at the top of the result timed itself in on Monday and if the phone call was needed within the hour would it have made it?

and ive to give the work a few days notice when im needing off

most of my days off have TO work around my family

ETS also has the facility to text you when a bird arrives, I know it costs a fair bit but well worth it for the guys that cant be there.

I ain't no super flier but have been at it since I was a kid the indisputable THRILL to me is seeing your bird arrive close it's wings an dive for its loft whether it be 60 or 600ml them the wait to see your position being 1st or last
