showman
Can a 12x6 loft (divided) 9 widowhood boxes in one section and 'poles' in the other, 2 sputniks fitted, be used for Roundabout ?

showman
why not Being someone who knows nothing about the Roundabout system, I thought it would be better to ask questions as I went along. Your reply has been concise, to the point and full of helpful information.
showman
We fly roundabout - but they only trap to one section I take it they would trap to the nest box section ? Same here 1trap and 2 x6x6 sections Thanks for that, a bit further on with my understanding !
cemetary
I take it they would trap to the nest box section ? Always have them trapping to the nest boxes, and not the perches section/boxes for the hens.
Darnaway
I would personally trap them to the nest box section

Darnaway
I would also have some opening in the perch section to allow the birds to exit that section and as previously posted enter the loft via the trap in the other section

Tony C
You will need a door or some sort of opening in the partition to push the cocks/hens through into the pole section. Hens out for exercise then push cocks into the pole section, trap hens into the nestbox section. Let cocks out for exercise, push hens back into the pole section, cocks trapped into the nestbox section. You'll need to find a way of closing the sputnik so nothing can see in or out. geordie1234
Make the box section bigger also

Already in place Tony. The framework on the loft side of the sputnik has a hinged 'window' with opaque corriboard fitted. Thanks for your input. Cheers. Make the box section bigger also Sorry, why should that be ?

geordie1234
Because remember when you have paired up you will have quadruple the pigeons in the nest box section hens and ybs I'd make it 8ft for cocks and 4 ft for the hens
REDCHEQHEN
You need a sliding internal door or trap between the two sections to let the non flying pigeons through and out of the way of the opposite sex

Yes, when they're paired, space in the nest box side would be at a premium, and the hens side would be empty. I thought, maybe naively, that after the pairs are settled and possibly on eggs, why not just leave the sliding door fully open thus giving them access to the whole loft ? No, definitely not, just trying to get my ducks in a row for next year (DV) and keeping my eye on the fact I'll be trying to keep it down to a small team.
