eastcoaster Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Pigeons don't like barleySince when do pigeon men care what pigeons like , we send them 600 mls you think they like it ! All boils down to control of intake so barley or beans do the job just like other feeds but some of us are,nt as clever as others so stick to what we have been using for years . Jmo

Tony C Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 That's fine keep on keeping on. Barley left to last EVERY time without fail l.Eureka !!! If there's Barley's being left they've been fed to much.
philg50 Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 1980s widowhood cocks barley through from Saturday afternoon and Sunday and Monday on to better feed Tues, WED, Thur ,by Thursday night flying all over sky I had better results then than i have been getting since i started again 2013 and now i feed better seed ????
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 I measure the left over Barley and cut the other grains proportionately until I reach the balance. This balance varies depending on work, heat, etc.
paddymac Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Why measure the barley ?? just cut back on the mix your feeding.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Each grain is about 5mm in length. Some people go to extraordinary lengths.Pat, measure is a term of speech, don't take it literally.Contrary to some opinions, I am not stupid, far from. Why ask, why measure?

paddymac Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Now you know why no-one takes you serious
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 How can you determine what feed you hold back on by weighing the barley simples ?? Cut back on the lot by the amount that is left overall.I am not yet into the science of feeding.I mix my own boost feed. I feed a bagged mixture, adding beans, oats and barley at different times. If they leave some, I cut them down. If they eat it all and are not gaining weight, I look for reasons why, sometimes giving them more, sometimes not.I was told, get the feed right to win. I don't win.I might get into the science of feeding.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted October 11, 2015 Report Posted October 11, 2015 Now you know why no-one takes you serious Sorry Pat, didn't realise you were being serious. What's length got to do with it?Don't take the word measure in a literal sense. length has nothing to do with it. Measure could indicate weight, length, or by eye. It is a matter of judgement.Being serious, my judgement in regard to feed is poor.
