Could you not make it a bit easier by knocking the naturals on the head for at least 6 weeks? I imagine you are keeping them for the channel?

I start at 7.20. Cocks will probs fly 20 mins and while they are flying I sort the stock. Cocks in hens out and while they are out I scrape the yb loft while they are in the aviary. Hens in after probs 15 mins and off tae work. Dad let's the ybs out after hens are in and he will be back at 12ish to give cocks and hens another go. Hame 4.30/ 5.00 cocks and hens out for another spin and all done for 5.30..

Up at 0615 and let the cocks out for 45 minutes and then feed them in, feed the separated hens at the same time then it's let light into the youngsters at 0730 then off to work, get in between 1700-1730 most days and then it's feed the youngsters and let the hens out for 45 minutes then it's out with the cocks and then it's something to eat. It's a hard life keeping doos lol

I work 12hr shifts so birds are only out when I'm on my days off as I have a few cat problems, or out most days when I'm on nightduty. I always take a few weeks holidays to prepare the birds for the channel races and that seems to work okay but like yeboah I cant wait until I retire and then I should be able to get some kind of daily routine working with the birds. :animatedpigeons:

Got to agree, not retired but full time carer for the Mrs , I find I had a better routine when in full time employment than I have now that I have all day.

Up at 5 too dark to let birds out before work , get home at around 6 lock naturals up (been on open hole) just taken hens away from cocks yesterday, cocks out one hour , hens out 45 mins , have only 3 ybs so no problem there . Will let cocks out twice a day when it gets light at 5 , my biggest problem is I work but don't drive so getting training in is a night mare ,thank god for the missus who hates the birds lol.

Only ever fly natural so easy job , sparhawks would keep em on toes all day lol

i actually still fly them that way although i am around the place more often now ,open first thing in morning shut up last thing at night they dont eat much on hopper only what they require . Birds go off ranging like young birds when out and keeps em fit , sent 50 on sat first time in a basket since last year 49/50 in just over 45 minutes and the last un few hours latter mostly all yearlings , not race sharp but quite fit .
