dal2 Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Could you not make it a bit easier by knocking the naturals on the head for at least 6 weeks? I imagine you are keeping them for the channel?
dal2 Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 I start at 7.20. Cocks will probs fly 20 mins and while they are flying I sort the stock. Cocks in hens out and while they are out I scrape the yb loft while they are in the aviary. Hens in after probs 15 mins and off tae work. paddymac Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 I work 12hr shifts so birds are only out when I'm on my days off as I have a few cat problems, or out most days when I'm on nightduty. I always take a few weeks holidays to prepare the birds for the channel races and that seems to work okay but like yeboah I cant wait until I retire and then I should be able to get some kind of daily routine working with the birds.

Guest stb- Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 Think that is way I will fly next year far less hassle.i actually still fly them that way although i am around the place more often now ,open first thing in morning shut up last thing at night they dont eat much on hopper only what they require . Birds go off ranging like young birds when out and keeps em fit , sent 50 on sat first time in a basket since last year 49/50 in just over 45 minutes and the last un few hours latter mostly all yearlings , not race sharp but quite fit .
