My doctor laughed at me when i suggested he give me probiotics to prevent a recurring skin problem i had. His assessment was that if you consume enough vitamins in your diet the body will fight off illness and no amount of probiotics would prevent anything the vitamins couldn't. For what its worth that was his take on them.

I had Psoriasis on my elbows and knees for about 10 years after I stopped smoking. Dr prescribed everything under the sun but nothing cleared it so I started smoking again and it was gone in weeks. I also started taking yoghurt with my porridge and noticed my stools firmed up so give the birds yoghurt on the feed 1 week per month and notice a difference in their droppings. I also give them FlightPath once a month but its the old chessnut, if we cannot see it then we dont know if its doing them any good. My birds are looking in marvellous condition and flying for at least an hour. Last week I sent samples for analysis which came back extremely high canker count ! you could have knocked me down with a feather which goes to prove we cannot see what is going on inside them regardless of their outward appearance.

Would this be intestinal canker, and what will you use to treat it ?

I agree with Jamsie 100%. One only has to look at the notice boards in the Doctors surgery waiting rooms to see the answers as to what and why and often how useless they are. Likewise the anti biotics ... as to what they can do. Think in reality the question should be What and when used and then WHY.

Yogurts are another one. As a world renown veterinarian says 'If dead they are useless. If live they would be dead before they reach the shelf. But may give a nice sheen and look, who knows. Think in reality it is down to whims and likes of the fancier. JMO

best way to test them is to fill a glass with an inch or two of milk and then add and leave overnight if the milk doesnt curdle or have a reaction they arent live. A top fancier showed me this trick. If you google it as well there is youtube videos etc

You will be surprised Aviform prolyte had no reaction how I have wasted my money over the years but to be fair I think its more of a prebiotic. Probac 1000 didnt work.
