tiger Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 i had pair late breds last year that had taken with each other this is full bother and sister pairing would you race or keep for stock ? the sire was 2nd open and the dame 3 & 4 th open so it carries this on both sides . views please btw its a hen ,
bullcock Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 These could make good stock birds when crossed with distantly related or full cross birds, but as for racing if they are first generation inbred (both parents aren't closely related) they should be fine for racing.I would breed off them and maybe train and lightly race them this year to see how the young birds do, if the young birds look promising you may have found a good pair of breeders.
dal2 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Hen should be kept for stock and paired with an uncle
Guest vice president Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 I WILL HAVE THE HEN :emoticon-0136-giggle:
Valiant Fifer Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Have had a few winners from this pairing Tiger surprisingly, and they also bred winners!

bibendium Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Doing the rounds on FB at present , dont know how credible it is though
peter pandy Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Would put the young hens to a full brother of the sire and the other to a full brother of the dam then send me a pair of them.
bullcock Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Doing the rounds on FB at present , dont know how credible it is thoughI have seen this first hand, mate bred a two young birds mixed together.
just ask me Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 niece paired to a uncle is about as close as i go best of luck with it and have had good birds paired like this i would def cross the offspring though too much inbreeding generation after generation i dont like
walterboswell59 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 (edited) id breed back in untill they show weakness or stop winning john cock to aunt hen to unclelol thats better Edited December 22, 2014 by walterboswell59
frank-123 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 id breed back in untill they show weakness or stop winning john cock to uncle hen to aunt You wouldn't get much out of them. Lol
Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Doing the rounds on FB at present , dont know how credible it is though Charlie, I had a full brother / sister mating last year and all 3 rounds were ok, whereas about 5 years ago I had a cross pairing where 1 chick only had half a wing.To me this, alongside the breeding knowledge acquired after 25 years dog breeding, shows that sports can arrive from any mating.
Kyleakin Lofts Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Brother to sister is not that close. Consider the number of genes carried on each chromosome and the number of chromosomes within a pigeon. If you are into maths, the possible variations are many. The mating is fairly neutral considering no real gain is to be made from it. This pairing carried out down through the filial generations is a different matter, but we are talking about a one off, even though it may be within a family line.

I'm sure you will know what to do John .
yeboah Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 Paired Saddleback the cock I was 2nd Open with to his AuntThe pair from their first nest have performed wonderfully well The next two nests they produced two silver mealy s and a silver blue which will be kept as stock and crossed Both saddleback and his aunt are blues and were paired in a secure section Will take care of his son as I think he will outshine his dad Now why did I say that lol
Valiant Fifer Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 I think a cock or hen from a brother sister pairing would be fine if the parents were good pigeons and not just putting a bother & sister together for the sake of it. The son could be put to his Auntie and the hen might be tried with her Uncle, this should give good results but you would probably have to cross them out somewhere along the line at some stage. Another way would be to put either one off the brother x sister pairing to another inbred pigeon from a completely unrelated family. The offspring would have what is called the Hybrid and although both sides are inbred you will find out the offspring have plenty of vigour! The other inbred should also be a very good pigeon or from a pair of top pigeons. It would be more of a hit or a miss when you put question mark to question mark if you get my drift! It deffo helps a lot if these inbred birds are already good or from top class performance birds! No ??? to ??? !!!Hope this is some help to you Tiger
Smithy1 Posted December 24, 2014 Report Posted December 24, 2014 going 2 pair her 2 a inbred son of rainbow warrior <jan polder > Didnt know and never thought you were a distance man, all the best with them m8...
