Driver B is an LGV owner operator. They transport a friend’s new boat from the manufacturer to a holiday home on the coast. They do this as a favour and don’t charge a fee. They don’t need Driver CPC to do this because they’re using the vehicle for the non-commercial carriage of goods. They would need to satisfy any enforcement staff that their journey was non-commercial if they were stopped.

I would assume this includes the transportation of pigeons.

You pay for your pigeons to get transported so the drivers need the drivers CPC card

This was published in BHW a while back and is available for download from RPRA website:-

27th February 2012.

VOSA - Transportation of Racing Pigeons within the UK by RPRA MEMBERS.

The long running saga is now hopefully over!

After recent meeting with the Head of Policy at VOSA we are very pleased to announce that the

following statement has been agreed by VOSA and will be have been briefed to all its VOSA

operational teams by the end of February 2012.

LICENSING

"The common scenario which has been long been a source of dubiety with regard to the application of operator licensing, concerns racing pigeon clubs. Pigeon clubs typically run small goods vehicles or goods vehicle combinations over 3.5 tonnes gross weight. These vehicles are generally used to transport racing pigeons belonging to club members. The members contribute towards the running costs of the vehicles through contributions made through their very modest annual membership subscriptions. As the clubs are run by members for members, and on a not-for-profit basis, there is no question of these vehicles being used commercially.

Where it is evident that vehicles are being operated by pigeon racing clubs in a way consistent with that outlined above, they should not be construed to be vehicles used for “hire or reward†or “in connection with a trade or businessâ€, and therefore not in scope of operator licensing."

Gordon McDonald – Head of Policy – VOSA (Feb 2012)

IN SUMMARY – No Licence is required as long as its club members taking the club vehicles

and it’s on a “not for profit†basis. (For clarification – professional hauliers DO require licensing)

TACHOGRAPHS

IN SUMMARY – vehicles under 7.5 tonnes driven by club members following above

licensing definitions DO NOT require Tachograph’s. (For clarification – ANY vehicle over 7.5 tonnes MUST have a Tachograph fitted and used).

Hi Ian

Afraid nothing to do with DRIVERS CPC

The drivers CPC is a course for drivers awareness in

driving safely,loading,unloading,use of tachographs,

filling in report sheets, and a lot more SH**

Did I learn anything sitting 35 hours in a class room

Sweet FA

Cheers

New transport arrangements for the YB race were put in hand on 7th August; there is a Management Committee Meeting on Monday 8th September, and the YB race is on the Agenda.

Well that still doesn't let the members know what's happening surely they could put something on their website

Surely there will be a wagon turns up wae a driver and a convoyer like every race?

The thread does ask Who's Taking them Steven.emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

Well can honestly say mate that I have never been fussed which contractor/haulier/fed wagon is taking the birds. I dont go to agms or the like so can only put my trust in the elected committee members. I know there has been recent issues with security etc but again we will have to wait till this coming agm for those that have no confidence to put down the keyboards and get along to the agm and change things for the better?

Unless no wagon turns up then I will have to keep the faith lol

No sure how a feel about the Gold Cup Steven after this years' debacle, i did know who the convoyers were but i didnae know their status. Hence the predicament the members find themselves in now, not knowing who is taking their birds to the race point, some of whom would like to know. Don't think that's unreasonable considering the variety of view points in this game !!emoticon-0138-thinking.gif

what has it to do with you, your only interest is keeping finishes I am giving the guys the heads up here don't see any other cant doing that. if you want integrity you have to do every bit of due diligence emoticon-0126-nerd.gif with transporter and officials and drivers, sad as thing are today.
