Frank, agree with what you are saying, we all try to do something along these lines but it is not always possible, and you still have to pay for an extra 1 or 2 baskets, whats the birdage in your club. Also when the transporters meet up i would reckon that any short baskets will be identified and filled up,(im not talking about baskets with 24 birds in them) but the club has still paid for transportation of that short basket which is now going nowhere.

Hi Davie

Once the baskets leave your club house they ARE NOT opened or filled up in any way

This WAS practiced years ago when clubs were sending away baskets with under 10 birds

in them and this was only done when there was to many baskets for both transporters

Been there and did it

Cheers

Of course the welfare of the birds is paramount but surely the race cannot be fair if birds competing in the same federation are transported to and held at a race point in different transporters. The internal temperatures can vary considerably from one to another giving some birds a distinct advantage.

By the way Mungo I waved to you as you passed the traffic lights going to Tesco today but you were obviously deep in thought.

My recollection was you were not even at the race in question so would be unlikely to be aware of the facts.

But this is neither the time or place to disuss this.

Homer,EXACTLY,you are not trying to tell me this still would not happen, if the Fed had for example six baskets more than one transporter could hold, and that unit had lets say 20 short baskets, the excess birds would spread about these short baskets, no way would a second transporter be laid on, and i would not expect there to be, why do you think we have to fill in a basket sheet detailing how many birds are in each numbered basket.Ive also been there and done it many times.Turn it up Alex, youve hung yourself with your own reply.

DAVY DOES HOMER NOT MEAN THAT THE BASKETTS ARE ONLY FILLED UP IF THERE IS A FEW TO MANY FOR THE TRANSPORTER.    THOT HE WAS MEANING THEY DONT FILL UP THE BASKETS IF THERE IS ROOM FOR THEM ALL..  JMO

STB, dont agree Homers saying that this was done YEARS ago but does not happen now, which is rubbish, to let you understand Lanarkshire have two transporters,no way would Lanarkshire put on a second transporter if short baskets could be filled up on one transporter, and as i said i would not expect them to.

thats why  the  28 bird rule came,   but i suppose the basket was  meant, to take 35 birds   at one time,   so a 200 basket trailer has the capability of taken  a extra 1,400 birds  in a short  hall race   if  needed   which equates to  50 baskets.    a £475  saved  to the fed  :o :o

I always enjoy flying my birds. I compete to win and I enjoy watching every last one return.

Because of the increased hazards they now face I am even more conscious that they should not be handicapped before release due to second class accomodation.

Yes I did take exception to a comment made by someone ignorant of the facts to which I referred.

Similarly I hope you also have an outstanding season.

Frank, was talking to some of your members earlier tonight, they were telling me that you have been paying 50p per bird for the past three seasons. Anyway got some of my own figures wrong for birdage in the two lanarks clubs that i am a member of, for 2010 Blantyre 50p per bird, East Kilbride 45p per bird.

Davie, its what the fed is charging that we are talking about, not the individual clubs. :-/ We are not interested what extra the clubs put on top of the fed birdage.

hi davie,

aye and last year was the first time we covered our prize money thanks to the birdage from derek hay and another lsc member using our club for basketing

this year we have lost a member to blantyre for health reasons who sent a big team most weeks and with derek and co not using our club facilities we might have to make up a good few quid in prize money

Hi Davie

Repeat to you LF baskets are NOT opened once they leave the club premises

FACT  lowest amount of baskets on the second trailer is  7 yes seven baskets on a 192 basket trailer sent to a race

FACT the second trailer regularly has 20/30/40 and is sent to the race

FACT  LF has no transport manager the job is yours if you want it call 01698 375389

FACT you say you attended Andersons yard in Newhouse to change birds over yet nobody I spoke to has any recollection of you being there

If I hung myself by my previous post this one just buried YOU

call the above number and get THE FACTS as I DID

Cheers

Hi Novice

Asked the question

At Newmains marking station for the SNFC races the federation only pigeons were in the same baskets as SNFC birds

There were no seperate baskets for Fed only birds

Hope this helps
