BIGPETE Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 My neighbours have cats and i can see them causing me some problems. I know dunking them in water for a few seconds or so will deter them a bit. But they are a bit hard to catch. I have a dog who will scare them off when she's outside but she lives indoors when I'm not home. Has anyone used a Ultrasonic/Infrared gizmo, and if so do they work? Was looking st this sort of thing >>> http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yard-Sentinel-Repellent-Electronic-Ultrasonic/dp/B00ENQGRRW/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1396294919&sr=8-8&keywords=cat+repeller Anyone had this problem and found a solution please do post up. Cheers Pete
andy Burgess Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 was a discussion about them last week . look for Owen,s posts about electric fences , far better if you can do it.

Cheers PetePete the ultra things do work I have them and if positioned properly they do work .i do believe that the Electric fences are better but not always practical .only time I've found that the ultra sound don't work Is if it is directed into infinity ,it is better if it can be directed at walls it can echo of ,I have houses all roundMe and I think most have cats ,the one directly behind me has 2 but I don't see them often, before I got myUltra gadget they were never away from my place ,good luck.
philg50 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I use these cat deterent things ,1 solar, 2 rechargeable battery .Before i got them i had 5-6 cats bothering my birds ,there is a guy across the road feeds all the stray cats in the area so you see my prob ,but now since using deterents just 1 cat still hasnt got the hint ,i actually think it is deaf,so have other deterent for it soon.Got them of ebay 14-£15 each.
BIGPETE Posted April 2, 2014 Author Report Posted April 2, 2014 Cheers lads for the info. Will invest in one of those little gizmo's and also gonna try train the doggy to live outside.

MIK Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 when i first started, i was getting terrible bother with a monster of a ginger tom. Every mornin i got up he was sprawled on the landing board and evenin when i came home from work ..same thing. i tried water, pellet gun/rifle, running at the bassa half naked :emoticon-0136-giggle: even sent to "boddy and rideurpocket" for an ultrasonic which done absolutely .*expletive removed* all in all positions. an old guy from my club suggested i get a trap and take it across the Foyle, as cats wont cross the bridge for fear of water. Loaned a trap ans set a feww cooked sausages in it. Next morning the bassa is in it snarlin and hissin at me. Now the fckr is acting like a maniac ..and i took fear :emoticon-0136-giggle: i grab an oul sack, put trap in it with the tiger inside and drove 6 mile the other side of the river Foyle. I let the bassa go. Job done, proud of mesel and home happy. 2 days later the big fat lazy fckr was sprawled out on me landing board :emoticon-0179-headbang: lesson learnt...nothing will get rid of cats unless you get a dog for the yard or take them a long walk :emoticon-0136-giggle: atbMick
