alex young Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Was going to pair mine a little later in the month but the hens are a bit too "frisky".I've had to box a couple of hens up to stop them pairing even though they are exercising daily and on a light feed and not too much of it.Will keep an eye on them the next couple of days but may pair them up before the w/end.
OLDYELLOW Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 Dam frost this morning will venture out with me thermas mug lol am sure birds wont notice how cold it is lol be far to interested in hens lol
Kyleakin Lofts Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Best of luck with it Mark.Mine are having a wee look-see through the bars at the moment because there are a few new pairings, should be ok when I pair them proper, hopefully.
OLDYELLOW Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 will keep popping back in to defrost lol probably wont be as bad once in loft
philg50 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Have not paired up ,birds never seperated they are pairing up and i am just removing the eggs ,they have been left to pick their own mate .I think i will be opening the boxes this week trying to hold of for as long as i could but i think i am as keen to get going as they are. Some i can see have chosen what i think are good mates ,but we will see.
andy Burgess Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 looking at putting stock together on Friday this week .have a few jobs to do first .
OLDYELLOW Posted January 20, 2014 Author Report Posted January 20, 2014 just popped in fer a bite to eat and 5 minutes off
Kyleakin Lofts Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 Too much hassle for me and I don't have that sort of time. They have been together through the wires, so to speak for 2 days now, this is the third. All are ok, except for two pair, but after another couple of days they should be fine too. After that, it will be letting them out a pair at a time to 'get to know' their box. The cocks are already settled so it is just the hens to settle to the box properly. That will be where it becomes a bit time consuming for me.
