With the acceptance of Airdrie & District Pigeon Club into Lanarkshire Fed the consequences to Midland Fed in losing one third of their members are catastrophic not only in terms of a financial loss but respected members we shared companionship with.

Birdage costs to Midland fanciers will have to increase from 30 pence to 54 pence and subscriptions from £30.00 to £45.00 to make up the loss in finances which is a conservative estimate if others from neighbouring clubs don't jump ship and join Airdrie.

What a calamity which should and could have been avoided had the Midland Fed Officials afforded Airdrie members the duty of care they were entitled to regarding their grievance.

Peter, can you tell us what grievance Airdrie had with the Midland Fed, this isn't a loaded question I would like to know.

Airdrie members were aggrieved due to the cancellation of Worcester old bird race and replaced by Appleby with the reason stated by the officials to the Fed delegates that they could not afford the loss in transportation costs which Airdrie members felt was predetermined at an earlier time.

Correspondence sent by Airdrie requesting an Emergency General Meeting of Midland Fed was not replied to and allegedly an abusive phone call by a Federation Official was made to the Secretary Mr Rankin of Airdrie extolling them where to go !!! and their would be no meeting. The result being the members of Airdrie decided to resign from the Midland Federation.

The above was related to me last Sunday in the presence of 25 Airdrie members in their club house. Denny club of which I am a member knew nothing about the incident nor the refusal to afford Airdrie an EGM was known to our club members where we could have arbitrated if possible to a different conclusion.

I feel it is only correct to say the Officials of the Midland Fed are President Andrew Garvin, Vice President's Andy McKee and T.Battersby, Secretary George Truesdale.

In light of this information do you think there's a chance, Peter, the boundary could be looked at - with a view to incorporating Avonbridge lofts ?

Lewis Do you mean the lofts in Avonbridge leaving the north west fed and joining the remaining Midland fed Members?

I know that several years ago, a club from another Fed applied to join North West and was declined on the basis that it was already in a Federation. Clubs jumping ship destabilise the organisations they leave, and there's no guarantee they won't do it again. It just creates ill-feeling and IMO there's more than enough of that already, thanks.

It's a sad day Peter but in the next few years we will see this happen more and more

The costs are driving out fanciers week in and week out . We seem to be inflicting more

Destruction on our sport/hobby than any other reason.sad.

Said earlier only the strongest will survive whether it is clubs or feds.

Without becoming involved in the troubles of other organisations I can say having just stood down as Fed President that the two most important duties for a club or fed official are 1) listen to the members and 2) keep the members informed.

Nah I was just at the wind up Frank,I'm not that bothered what fed or section we are in. It's just the route and race programme of our fed that bothers me :cry-blow:

Not the end of the world I suppose, just got to get on with it :scotland:

Peter, thanks for the explanation , I was not aware of this, I agree with the general consensus of opinion on this thread, their is nothing upsets any organasitions members more than their elected officials treating them like mushrooms e.g. Keeping them in the dark and feeding them sheit , unfortunately it will be the remainder of the Midland Fed members who will suffer from this lack of consideration and transparency on the part of their elected officials.

the bottom line is we are all doo men and it is never nice clubs leaving federations ,but we have to treat every member and club with respect and stop the bikering between ourselfs and feds to the better of pigeon racing or racing wont be here for much longer
