JohnQuinn Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 the river avon not far from gareth is full of mink A know Jimmy, luckily am miles fae the Clyde and the Calder, in saying that wee Max is ever vigilant and ave very little to no vermin troubles now.The mice are the hardest to keep at bay due to the places they can hide but he still manages to get a few of them. Anything bigger and they are coco pops
peter pandy Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 When I was employed in Wales we had a river winding its way through the estate and twice a year a dog pack " retired fox hounds " was brought in to clear our part of the river of rats. It was most unfortunate if they killed any other species but a good days sport was enjoyed by the many followers participating. Some tend to forget we have Labour to thank for all the countryside sport banns.
blue pied Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 my papa heard a noise one day in the YB loft and it was a mink it killed a couple by the time he got in but he held it down with a scraper and shouted on the neighbour and told him to pick up the hammer that was lying outside and hit it on the heed. before the neighbour killed it he stood and asked what it was hahaha, papa nearly took a fit at him when he tapped it on the head wae the hammer, he was shouting 'hit the fu**cken hing' hahaha

Guest TAMMY_1 Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Good job you got it Billy, the ba--ard would not have stopped until it killed every doo in your loft.after Adam Hamilton moved to his new location a few years ago a stoat or something got in and killed a lot of stock birds through a large gap at the top of the loft,he thought that was it and never fixed it,it came back the next night and killed a lot more ,then he fixed it

Guest IB Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Wouldn't wish this on anyone. Guy at the bottom of my road whose ground borders Westquarter burn had his team wiped out by one a good few years back. He got it, and theory was that mink had escaped from a mink farm further upstream, and were now living in the wild.
