Aye i remember it well Brian, i was 15 and got a lager shandy in the local pub. I wisnae there for drink though, i went to play pool on a "real" table as the one in the house was dreadful. Went 3 Friday's running and straight tae bad when i went home so ma Da widnae smell the drink off me, he was Tea Total and a non smoker all his life so it wisnae a good idea tae get caught.

When i got up on the Saturday morning after my 3rd soiree into the pub ma Da asked me where i was the night before!! Oot was the best he could get out me, but the last laugh was with him when he told me to get into the living room before going to bed in future. That was the end of my Lager shandy and ma pool until i was 18. Never did get up early enough in the mornin tae out smart himemoticon-0179-headbang.gifemoticon-0179-headbang.gif lolol

My first drink was when I was 14, at the time, a few good mates parents owned pubs, my drinking days then began. It was in the Cundy pub, which is now owned by Frank Lampard Snr and is a block of apartments. It was my first drink and my first sight of the Jack and Danny, the pub had strippers there everyday 12 tea time to 6 at night. ;)

My first attempt at a pint and only pint in a pub was my 18th birthday with my step dad in the Alpha Bar in Smeaton Kirkcaldy which was my families local, I never drank because I was too busy training, it was to say the roughest in the area and I knocked the table and spilled it along with a few others. I was then thrown a mop by a Dunk Glen who ran it and was told a stretch inside would soon learn me how to use one

The Alpha bar was famous for the darts player Jocky Wilson who I remember in his early days him playing for steak pies on a Sunday and selling mackerel in the pub to feed his family

I just about bought the The Alpha Bar in the late 80's but a better opportunity came up, the rest is history

yes back in 1981 just returned from a school skiing trip in italy, my parents picked me up from the drop of point at the secondry school and went for a meal to a local hotel, and went into the bar afterwards where my dad bought my first pint, there was no questions asked, i was over the moon, thought i was " erchie "

FIRST TASTED THE DRINK WHEN I WAS STILL AT SCHOOL the last year maybe at 15 WENT into a bar, with a few pals O kanes bar, it was called, it used to have barrels of wine hanging up from the rafters, and the barrels would some times leak and the barman used to place some glasses, about the bar to catch the drips , well it was 10d for a pony of this wine called melrosa, there was 2 others but cant remember there name, and the stuff that dripped into the class on the bar was a tanner 6d

well if you dunk this stuff and you seen any one drink it, you knew where they had come from as this stuff made you put out yer arms out as if you where a airoplane and if you see any wine drinkers they always put out there arms wide this stuff i had to goes 2 at it, on 2 seperate Saturdays just 1 hour at time maybe i had 3 glasses, Christ this would make yer head spin, what a mess we where in heading home over railway tracks as we stayed about 2 mile from that boozer in bed for about 3 in the afternoon and the bed spinning like the fairground never again, well we did go the next week, and that finished us off never got home till 4 in the morning after leaving the boozers at 2.30 in the afternoon fell asleep in a old railway guards wagon me and four mates the sweet dripping from us as we fell asleep as we lit the coal fire in the wagon, we had filled it to the brim way coal, about 100 deg heat in tha wagon no doors open or windows never again ill for weeksemoticon-0167-beer.gif
