The wee boy next door to the pigeon loft used to come over all the time, his mum kept worrying he was bothering us but she was told not to. He's a smashing young lad, very bright for his age and he picked out a pigeon he liked that we called "Robin" after him. Every time he's round he can pick it out the bunch no problem. He used to climb the fence and shout to see if we were about and if he could come over to see the pigeons, he'd sit in our feeding shed and draw pictures of 'pigeons'. Well we hadn't seen or heard from him recently and it was just last week we found out from a neighbour that he has been confined to a wheelchair. He has a problem with his hips, his parents are hopeful it's not going to be for life but it will be for the next few years. Put thing's into perspective a bit, when I see myself getting worked up over the doo's, a transporter or a race programme.

peter pandy Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 They say their is a long tunnel in life with a shining beacon at the end of it ! Some of us are at the start of it, some at the middle and some nearing the end. Life and knowledge to me is like that.Returning to walter's theory, he has managed to bring that piece of knowledge closer to the end of my tunnel as he really has hit the nail on the head. I have studied my diaries for the last couple of years and conclude my o/b losses and loss of form have coincided with transferring weaned vaccinated y/b from the stock loft to the main racing loft. This will be rectified so thank-you Walter.

peter pandy Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 you are making a liar out of your self enough said i,m of for a drinkchad 3646 are you incapable of understanding plain English ? as my remarks were quite clearly spelt out to one and all who understood what was written in plain English and you have tenermity to call me a liar. Please be so good as to explain where you are coming from so I can make it simpler for you.
peter pandy Posted April 6, 2013 Report Posted April 6, 2013 youyou say your own experience your flock has went through life without contracting ybs then you sayexcept on a couple of occasions make your mind up you then sayyou probably do what walters doing except you dont through out the vaccine walter recommends that you through out the bottle not put it back in the fridge So I am a liar for posting the fact I have never had YBS but have had other diseases and this remark makes me a liar so I will clarify.I purchased years ago all the principal pigeons belonging to the late A.P. Taylor Falkirk apart from his SCC winner and put them in my race loft along with the rest of my team as it was my intention to break and race them. Within 6 weeks all had contracted some disease or another and died, Enquiries were made and I found Mr Tayler had been feeding his birds Aureomycin for years and his birds had no immune system. A couple of years later I went to a clearance sale for a Mr & Mrs Donaldson down Lockerbie-Gretna way Purchasing a Grizzle hen named "Titch" which had a couple of national diplomas from Nantes and 5 others, All were dead within a month with what my vet diagnosed as Dyptheria coupled with no immune system none of my own birds were affected.I sincerely hope this answers your opinion of me being a liar.

peter pandy Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 Walter,Here is more food for thought !.I and friends went to the Bonnybridge prize presentation followed by discussion with a panel consisting John Harwood and John Bosworth last year. One of the questions asked and answered by the panel was vaccination. John Bosworth gave his reply that set tongues wagging.I Vaccinate twice yearly.. Once in January before pairing and ONCE A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THE FIRST NATIONAL TO ENSURE MY CANDIDATES DO NOT CONTRACT ANYTHING IN THE BASKET..As any National man will tell you all the prepatory work has been done a couple of weeks prior to the event where upon vaccination can be carried out with 2 weeks isolation not being a problem. I know rest and contemplation works wonders. DONT YOU !!.

DONT YOU !!.agree peter but john its deff taking a big risk jagging them during racing season the mans a fantastic flyer but this could explain why his results are not what they use to be and i dont mean that in a bad way i mean maybe he would be even better if they were jagged off season m8
walterboswell59 Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 you go by what the vaccination people say but you wont listen to the vets they will never tell you to treat blind only if they have the illness I don't take paracetamol just incase im going to get a headachei know what you mean m8 but vets dont test vaccines
walterboswell59 Posted May 17, 2013 Report Posted May 17, 2013 thanks fid i was just lucky getting mine replaced and have to admit at the end of the day it was not studs fault i was not jagged and at that time no one knew vaccinated birds gave unvaccinated birds a problem m8for all the guys now having problems bump
