geordie1234 Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Do you pair the pigeons or let them pair themselves and what's your reasons for this? Geordie
billt Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 Do you pair the pigeons or let them pair themselves and what's your reasons for this? Geordie 100% me George, but I'm a pedigree freak
andy Burgess Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 i choose the stock pairings , and have (at present) only put 1 race pair together , the other racers will select themselves.i am happy with the results the last 2 seasons
just ask me Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 i change the pairings every year so they be selected here
andyyy Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 I pair the lot up myself, with the race birds it's best to best. And with the stock birds i just pair depending on size, Breed where it's from and if it's been raced whats it's done and of course, If it's bred anything before. Like to swap round unless i get a good breeding pair.
alex young Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 With having a small loft I've got to make sure the breeding doesn't get too close,so need to take a bit of care when pairing.Where possible I will put a winning daughter off a good cock to another good racing cock.
sapper756 Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I select my breeding pairs, and also my naturals as I tend to have a bird in the natural pairs not racing, this guarantees a mate on return from races(where possible). My widowers get to pick their own partner as I do not breed youngsters from them, but do allow them to rear a youngster from the stock team.
Guest The Newbie Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 We leave the pairs which have bred winners and other positions together but we have 2,new pairings for this season
Diamond dave Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 I have already 'pre'-paired my selected pairings for next year before I split them up. I'm hoping it will help to ensure an easy and more successful breeding season when I bring them together in March. D.D.
geordie1234 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Report Posted January 3, 2013 I might pre pair a few this weekend only have about 4 pair I want together
VMS Posted January 3, 2013 Report Posted January 3, 2013 We let them take their own mates, nice and easy. But we dont have stock birds couple of retired racers thats all
