Guest stb- Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 yes Julie has confirmed that they have ceased trading as of today , another dissaster for the pigeon game SALTIRE PIGEON COURIERS M*< ON SITE http://forum.pigeonbasics.org/topic/59193-saltire-pigeon-couriers/page__pid__766413__st__0&?do=findComment&comment=766413not sure if george would be able to cover the whole country , as it would take a load of vans and driver to do that
eastcoaster Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 DISASTER have 2 birds to pick up in Derbyshire,
dal2 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 not sure if george would be able to cover the whole country , as it would take a load of vans and driver to do that Have ye got a clean drivin licence Rab?
Ian McKay Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Well we complained enough about Inter Link and Amtrak they were not as bad as made out Yes I know Amtrak also went bust but had a lot of complaints lodged with the RPRA :emoticon-0179-headbang:
sapper756 Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Not good news to hear yet another business go bust, but it does not surprise me, as the cost of fuel is high, and folks want a service for a low price, it is becoming increasingly difficult to retrieve birds, from around the UK, it,s time the Unions tackle this problem. JMO

JMOSpot on , the unions cannot threaten us for not sending for them if there are no decent means of retreiving .
Delboy Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 The Unions could be employing people to cover the collection/delivery of all stray pigeons at a low cost and any pigeons purchased from individuals or studs etc to be collected, would simply require a larger charge.
THE FIFER Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 the big problem is non fanciers having strays, Unions should have fanciers in different areas, the SHU have my number which they give to non fanciers reporting birds in my area also they gave the area RSPCA my number,
Daisymay Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Asked George the other day to pick up a bird in Durham,he said it was not viable for him to do so.
REDCHEQHEN Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 They're pretty unreliable at the moment - a club member has tried to get a pigeon picked up from the South to be brought back to the North East and every courier so far has refused
just ask me Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 the problem is that its near impossible to make money if only transporting a few birds on a long journey how the problem is solved i just do not know a few have tried so far to try cover all the uk a near impossible job i think
THE FIFER Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 thats it, they cant travel long distance to pick up 1 bird ,
JADE Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 Only way to cover whole country would be a network which was why Interlink and Amtrak were so handy even if not always reliable. maybe the RPRA could approach DHL or TNT but I think they have been asked before and dont want to touch livestock.
maverick Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 The only way these snaller couriers can survive is by higher prices or by doing a relay system amoung a few of them IMO
just ask me Posted July 11, 2012 Report Posted July 11, 2012 think uk pigeon couriers have started a new company Northern Couriers Ltd dont ask me why there a site in all up
