Well lad's I have decide to pack them in all the young birds will go next week the old birds will be raced out.

Just cant see a future for me for all my time and effort I am no further forward than when i started in 2006. I am unable to build a team to compete. Yesterday's race for me was the final straw for the last few years i get so far then I get booted in the ...

There will be some small loft's and equipment for sale near the end of the old bird's any pigeon's I have will be returned to the people who gave me them the other's I have left will be given free to anyone who would like them.

I have met many good generous friend's on here and in the pigeon sport . I wish you all the very best of luck in the future

Felt like chucking it yesterday as well, Only had 9/16 and had lost another 5 2 weeks ago, which is 16 down so far, worst start ever to a season and had doos since 1974, Let the ybs out today and there are about 22 missing, some will work back, some wont, but thats the Doo Game, nuthing like it for knocking you down. So, in the words of a song, Just have to pick myself up and get back in the race.

Sorry you feel like you have to chuck it Frank i have felt the same way myself a few times but then i dont let myself get too attached to the doos anymore because at the end of the day you are going to lose some if we didnae we could never keep them all i myself have 9 missing from yesterday and if they turn up i will be glad to see them and if they dont by next weekend i will have forgot all about them all same as i have forgot all the rest that have went missing this season

nearly all the yearlings i had at yesterdays race are missing they just could'nt handle the heat & humidity and the east wind

Cmon Frank its very hard but we must keep going mate???? Bad wind yesterday put a lot of birds very off line but if its wot ye want then I wish you the best!!!

I dont know wots for the best cos without my old boy work and sport will not let me keep the birds to his standard but I would like to try cos I have been wae them since I was old enuff to hold yin!!!!but if I cannot do them justice then I will not be last cos I like to compete!!!

I admire everybody that keeps them now in these hard times but I can remember a hundred bad races even before BOP wer mentioned as can you probably???

Take some time to think but wotever enjoy life!!!

Cheers Steven

Really hope you change your mind.Fully understand your thinking regarding the time and effort required. You will always get a race like yesterday every couple of years and the Bop problem is making weekly racing worse each year. When I returned from overseas I was pleased to see you carrying on the family tradition as your father was a very good fancier and friend both racing and showing.

wish you all the best frank, in what ever you decide.

Think most have covered most aspects , it has certainly been the hardest start to racing that I can remember for a very long time , the winds not favourable heat and east wind certainly dries the birds out . I guess you have thought long and hard about giving the birds up , like most have said be a shame to see you give the birds up , you'l will always be looking at the sky when birds go over , if it's in yer blood it never goes . We all wish you the very best whatever you decide , it's ok to change yer mind and hang in there ;)

ive only kept them since 2004 myself ,and its been a long hard battle to keep them (against personal circumstances) and ive certainly considered getting rid many a time.but i know deep down i would be lost without them despite all the heartache that goes with them .i hope you take time to think it through Frank ,but wish you well in whatever you decide .

really sad frank that you are going to finish up with the doos m8 but can fully understand although i would urge you to give it a few days more thought as the racing changes just like the weather and we will get some good races with the birds we have left, although i would not insult your intelligence with trying to tell you that the racing has not changed over the last few years, :( :( good luck m8 for the rest of the campaign and a good yin at the national. :) :) :)
