aye ready Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 Taken off another site we had to put up with our youngster's coming back and some of them joining what must of been 5,000 Lanarkshire pigeons liberated at 12.45, less than 1 mile from our allotment and didnt clear Split into approx. 8 or 9 small batche's, they were still pigeons going in all direction 1 hour later. my 1st yb arrived at 12.58 13mins after their LIB. and luckily missed the mass, I have 6 missng some Lad's have only 4 back. NO COMMUNICATION surely they enquire as to when the Hexham birds were due back MADNESS and: Lanarshire birds should of went 2 hours ealier, it was much better then clear skys for hours. then they liberate into almost full cloud cover absolute madness wheres BIGDAS expert opinion on this then

billy_g Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 race controllers have a totally crap job and we should thank them for what they do,after all the fed votes puts them in that position,my race controller [aye ready] has done a great job you just get some funny races,im 8/23 my season is gone but thats it,im gutted for all the guys that had the same kind of race as me. keep the good work up you race controllers
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 Was always going to be a tricky race today from Hexam, Hexam is not a good area to be liberating 7000 pigeons. Forcast was showing full cloud cover for the majority of the route with drizzle or light rain. One minute it was warm then it turned cold and clamy. There was a change for the worse of the feathering of the natural young birds this week whislt they were going through the marking some doos were even sent with baldy heads. The third young bird race is when YBS is at It's peak. Not surprised that returns are poor for most fanciers, we have 30/46 which is disappointing after having returns of 54/54 & 55/56 from the first 2 races
frank-123 Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 18 from 26 myself hoping some more show in the morning something very wrong today for near on every fed got whacked not in till 57 so quite disappointed that's me probably call it quits for the season apart from some wee one's for the comeback race

Delboy Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 get them away Frank, fking long off season
frank-123 Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 get them away Frank, fking long off season my yearlings took a battering this year derek so i need to try and build if i get a few more in the morning then i might keep some going 42/68 from Thirsk. Pentland Fed, 1380 vel. First 5 in club drop together then a few minutes later another 4, half home at clocks when some didn't even time in. Where the *expletive removed* do they get to....... the pentland bird davie allison gave to jim hannah trapped right out the sky onto his landing board and into his loft when davie was waiting on hexham birds coming
VMS Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 18 from 26 myself hoping some more show in the morning something very wrong today for near on every fed got whacked not in till 57 so quite disappointed that's me probably call it quits for the season apart from some wee one's for the comeback race SAME BOAT AS YOURSELF M8,BETTER SAVED FOR NEXT YEAR NOW.
Delboy Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 my yearlings took a battering this year derek so i need to try and build if i get a few more in the morning then i might keep some going Frank, i once raced 12 obs and was never out top 6 in club, ( 36 lofts )I had 3 SNFC x section winners and 6 fed winners in 12 birds.Quality m8, get them sorted out.Thats only my opinion

Have trained SNFC birds for 20yr frae hexham and always thought it was good? Its over in the East is it not?Was the weather in the west no P*** the day? It was here!
Guest bigda Posted August 13, 2011 Report Posted August 13, 2011 wheres BIGDAS expert opinion on this thenhexam was the worse place to be in a wet dreek day, it is in a very low basin and if there is low cloud the birds can only get out the one way and that is to head south then make for carlisle longtown we could not even go to otterburn as that is the highest part and it would have low cloud there with there been smirly rain on the east coast and the same weather in between otterburn and hexam the birds the leading ones well maybe not the leaders at the time came right out of the south and must have cam e out of the muirkirk ayrshire side, the natural doos that went east had to go down as the weather would have soaked then in no time, the darkies would be the most likely winners in that race today, hexam is like a giant quarry with one exit on a wet day if it was a good day they have no probs as there are many currents and you will always see para gliders there.

Its over in the East is it not?Was the weather in the west no P*** the day? It was here!Hexham itself is in a valley and any-time i have drove through my thoughts have been that this is not a good place to liberate doos especially if full cloud cover which it was today. Today in Larkhall for each hour that past, there would be drizzle for 10 mins, full cloud cover for 45 mins which was low, then 5 mins of the sun trying to get its head out. Would imagine that down amongst the hills at 2500 feet then it would not have been a good flying for young birds flying. Two more this morning 32/46, hopefully a few more will turn up today in which case it will be seen as a great learning curve for both the birds yesterday and the late ones today.
Guest KING BILLY Posted August 14, 2011 Report Posted August 14, 2011 56/70 frome hexham just wish thay had been up 0830 that would have gave them more time to get home never can remember having a bad race out of hexham
