JohnQuinn Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 With Jim Woods (Lanarkshire Lad) putting up regular footage of the training van liberations, i wonder should feds supply convoyer's with cameras to film the race liberations from the time the doos are let go until they clear the racepoint.I reckon it would dispel some of the ridiculous stories we hear at times after a tough race with bad returns.??
ALF Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 John it was proposed a few years ago that our fed should purchase a mobile phone for the convoyer our driver to film the lib but i dont think anything ever came of it but i think it's a great idea
THE FIFER Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 yes, a few years back we had a idea about putting a camera on board so we could watch the birds in the transporter on the way down etc on our PC's

Ian McKay Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Aberdeen Federation have been recording the birds being watered at lib sites and the liberation for 4yrs now also any on lookers for future referenceCan also tape conversations between driver and race controllerWe have two recorders which cost about £86 each (might be cheaper now) they attach to the wing mirrors via suckers (available at Maplin under a £5 each) We also have a tracking system. The info it can provide is shocking (speed, stops, and you get a map reference where the transporter is) Kills all the malicious gossip stone dead
geordie1234 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Great idea as Ian said kills all malicious gossip stone dead

WulDon Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 in this day and age it is a must imo, would give controller total control at both ends, more so when non fanciers are taking the birds to the lib sites, if linked through a PC then controller can check weather conditions at both ends... providing the homework has been done in between it can only result in some better racing more so with young birds.. and as mentioned would also satisfy all the fish wifes who reckon bird arent being watered etc.
david Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Your wife in your avatar is a stunner put her straight in the stock loft. My stock loft more like! DAVID
Guest Davy Fleming Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Good Idea for some Feds I suppose but I certainly wouldn't be asking our convoyers George Johnstone and sometimes John Jamieson to do it as they are two of the most caring guys there are and trust them One Million %. Would also never ever in a million years even consider questioning them on there decision to liberate the birds but I suppose I am part of the lucky ones around regarding this matter.
frank-123 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 it would be great to see near on 10,000 birds going up

john cumming Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 good idea, i think its the way to go, but it would be down to the connvoyer discrecion as he/she has enough to do getting the birds ready for liberating?? john
greenlands Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 Your wife in your avatar is a stunner put her straight in the stock loft.I thought she was trying to smuggle a couple of blokes into the Country
Roland Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 We've had, and made, concerted efforts here to put this into place, even 5 yerars ago... very little cost and surely a bonus to the defence fron uncalled slagging of gruntled fanciers. However it - though many letters and propositions, in the Rags,. it all fell on death ear... Like too much has before on ears that are suppoised to being looking out for our interests eh!
kirky Posted July 19, 2011 Report Posted July 19, 2011 i dont think a lot of people would like to see how many birds in the bottom row crates hit the ground as i have seen myself.
