Unlucky mate especially after all that distance! I thought they all got a diploma from the longest race? Obviously not

JADE Posted July 5, 2011 Report Posted July 5, 2011 Hope you get a diploma. It certainly deserves one. At least you got on the result as a few years ago it wouldnt even have got that honour. Some great performances out of Tours. Well done to all!

budgie Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Diploma,s at this distance should be 1/4 or 1/5 of the entry. Its a hard slog to be awarded with nothing for their gallant efforts
JohnQuinn Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Diploma,s at this distance should be 1/4 or 1/5 of the entry. Its a hard slog to be awarded with nothing for their gallant efforts There is no doubt some merit in giving doos that have flown Extreme distances Diploma's on a more inclusive number such as 1/4 1/5, the problem is the South Section only flies approx 550mls from Tours. This is only equal to the central belt fanciers flying for the Gold Cup so the south pigeons flying Tours could Not be given Diploma's for flying these distances, or it makes a farce of the whole distribution of tickets in SNFC racing. JMO. In saying this, if someone writes a proposal for the AGM with a Seconder, the club members can discuss it and decide the merits or lack of merit of the proposal at the meeting.

Guest IB Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 Slightly off tack, but 'fair distance arguments' could be solved if the club adopted a minimum 500 miles flying distance into South Section for our Gold Cup race, and minimum 600 miles flying distance into South Section for our Longest Race. We had that last year with Reims and Bourges. Agree that 1/10 prizes could come down in these 2 races, getting more pigeons on the result and showing a truer reflection of the race, - e.g. including some that are not getting on the result because 1/10 places have run out and they're not in the money, while birds that achieve a much lower velocity than those left out, are there on the result. JMO

No many on that result??????????????? Yer taking this the wrong way Steven, i was not in the slightest way saying it was easy or otherwise for the South section, my point was if we as a club decide to give diploma's 1/4 or 1/5 for one race because of the Distance the bird is flying which is what the thread is about, Distance. The fanciers farther north than you boys will want a ticket for their pigeon who completes any race in more than 400ypm but not get a section ticket because their bird will have flown equal distance to other birds awarded diploma's based on the distance they have flown.
alec guinness Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 it was only recently that the format changed from 15/1 to 10/1 regarding the winning of diplomas, and also with the introduction of silver awards giving the fanciers and pigeons of the SNFC a better chance of achievment over the season, the longer distance race (this year tours)is well catered for imo with all pigeons making the result being awarded a diploma,to change the current format to allow more diploma winners imo would be a drop in standards as other uk nationals already practise this. :)

Rooster J. Cogburn Posted July 6, 2011 Report Posted July 6, 2011 A wee bit off topic but how many Gold Award winners do yous know of that were clocked 5 times from the Kings Cup?? Am I right in saying Davy Elliot had one??
