Sorry to say but Dead is about the only way to make them stay away!! I've tried every method under the sun and apart from trapping and disposing of them the dog is the best answer.

Likelihood is the presence of the dog will stop them coming around and would not result in them dead so everyone can live in harmony

Please remember that other pet owners and animal protection body's look onsite please don't put illegal acts onsite as it is not a good way to show our hobby to others who maybe looking in .

You can use deterrents like a dog or a cat scarer or scarecat , one works on high frequency sound which works you can use it in your garden or get a hand held one , or the water one detects cats and blasts them with water :) or as has been mentioned an electric fence :)

i got 5 cats that all come at the same time now god help me any tips on how to get them to stay away ?????

Hi

I use use a ultra sonic cat deterrent and i find that is works for me. I was swamped with cats where i live, and the only time i seen cats, was when the batteries were done. They are very reasonable and a lot cheaper than buying them from the pigeon books boddy and ridewood. See attached link below. I bought 3 of the cat repeller 40 at £16.95.

The only sure way to keep the cats out is to use an Electric Fencer. It never sleeps, does not hurt the cats and does not require you to draw attention to yourself as you would with some of these ideas. Unlike the ultrasonic devices the cats will never ever get used to it and it works for deaf cats as well. Better still if you get a bird back unexpectedly it can hang around near the loft in safety because the fencer will always be there alive and well to take care of dogs, cats, foxes and even human trespassers can be put off by it. To be honest, I rarely have mine switched on these days because the local cats have given up ages ago. The last time I used it was because I had a fox under the loft. A week or so with the fencer and that problem was solved.

Now i no you will laugh at this one i did when i was told

A top pigeon fancier friend told me he purchased small rubber snakes from local bric a brac store and layed them where cats were entering his garden problem solved, now i have not seen this but another friend says he has done the same and it works for him .Food for thought and cheap

I have not used this as there are plenty o snakes living round about me :emoticon-0136-giggle:
