Roland Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Be back Gary, no two ways about that. I'd think they were scared or scattered first. They can home in Mist or fog, especially if they can get about it. I let mine up when training in either in the race season. Mind that won't stop you fretting and being peeved to say the least. Good luck.
jimmy white Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 let birds out at 12ish 4 hours ago 40 birds all gone. thick mist rolled in from the sea .the majority have all raced . it will also be freezing tonight very pis st off. they will be back tomorrow ok blaz, posted many years ago about hens being spooked at this time of the year , especially approaching 3pm,[was boohood in being wrong] ;D], one starts it off then it seems to spread to the rest,, for unknown reasons,, [but can understand blaz,s reason , as the fog came in so quick],, hens best being out [if need be] and back in by 12,, my opinion only :-/ 4 phone calls in the last 5 days of this happening,, birds out all night back in next day,,?,
catchthepigeon Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 WHERE your birds fed before you let them out that could be the problem letting them out so late in the day if they were hungry you could have easily called rthem in when the weather started deteriorating
Guest puresoontjen Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 the mist done the same thing to me on the first race no one in our club seen one for hours after the time they should of been back so i no what your going trough its sickening. you should have them on the pen when you look out the window in the morning. hope all returns for you
blackdog Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 happened twice to me this year when old birds were exercising, thick fog came in, never saw a bird for a couple of hours, was thinking they would hit wires, ariels but when fog started to lift birds started to come back in ones and twos till all got back, just hope the mist is not there in the morning mate and they will be there ist thing
