In my opinion the best are Hession's but if you was to ask me who to go to for Van Reets that win from 50 to 500 miles , I would say without doubt R & B Smith of Burtonwood whose performances in club, fed, classic and national racing are as good as anybodys, it seems they are sprint pigeons ask these lads they get them all through, I did a write up on thes lads and that season they won 7 x 1st individual 2-bird club races, no double banking specialist clubs 2 against 2, only 1 of these was not across the water and they win approx £6000 every season and both are true gentlemen. In 2003 I bred some youngsters which were to late to race without really pushing them, so I decided not to bother after racing finished I gave them 3 training spins 8ml, 16ml & 25ml and then left them alone, after losing a couple on these chucks I then disposed of a few which I did not think were good enough and ended up with 7, one of these cocks won 3 x 1st clubs and another won 4 x 1st clubs and topped the Fed and was 2nd fed beaten on a decimal, he also won every position in the top ten of the fed except 7th, so in my opinion yes you can race them later and they will perform as long as they are good enough. Tim, Correct it doesn't matter when you are flying over the water but I like all racing and try to competitive in them all and as most winds are either Southerly or Westerly, then if you have a bird with the winners you want it to be timed asap. Paul

look lets be honest about this at the end of the day it is a faster way of clocking, most people who have it have got it for that reason, it is nothing to do with helping the disabled for most people so accept it for what it is and don't try to hide behind the disabled banner, that is the main reason for a lot of the upset. What I do is have some youngsters slightly younger than the others and so when the first ones are beginning to flirt around the others are just going on the loft and when the older ones are flirting about the others on the roof are testing their wings and this attracts them to land on the loft rather than the house, also then when the younger ones start to fly the older ones are already used to landing on the loft and so the younger ones follow the older ones, job done, it works for me anyway.
