  1. Id say it takes a more skilled fancier to win an old bird race. However a young bird race I feel is a more open playing field pros and novice, have a chance. But a win is a win to me, whether old or young. But that's my opinion
  2. Thought it was a good site, was a member for 2 years, but stopped the payment as it wasn't updated as regularly as the price dictated, if it was cheaper I'd still be a member
  3. STB, in the London area and some parts of Essex area it's getting smaller in smaller, take for example the LNRC Berwick race this year 1,960 birds represented, going back 12-13 years ago The LNRC Berwick was touching near enough 9,000. More even before that. The biggest North Road event London and Essex based is the Essex and Kent Amal, but that isn't a weekly occurrence. There also seems to be no recognition of any of the winners unlike years gone by either. I personally feel if a south road club opened locally with a 6 mile radius from Beckton North of the Thames, in 2-3 years there potentially could be a club of 25+ members something that isn't the norm around here.
  4. With the dimise of north road racing, and no local south road clubs what would be needed to be done or how do you go about forming a club? Just for research purposes
  5. My first drink was when I was 14, at the time, a few good mates parents owned pubs, my drinking days then began. It was in the Cundy pub, which is now owned by Frank Lampard Snr and is a block of apartments. It was my first drink and my first sight of the Jack and Danny, the pub had strippers there everyday 12 tea time to 6 at night.
  6. Have a good one
  7. Living in wanstead means he would have been more then likely in the Leytonstone and Stratford club the same as scribe Brian Woodhouse, give Brian a call he should be able to help you further.

On another website, a famous auctioneer who sold children of wingdown at blackpool, has put a message to say wingdown is home, injured and officially retired now. Glad your friend got one Tam
  9. Where in East London does Mr Chapman live? It's not a name that rings any bells at all, was he racing pre 1989? If I can find any information out for you I will.
  10. I'd put another plastic ring on it, everything is worth a second chance.

    Advice Please

Bill as I said we haven't raced natural for something like 15-17 years. However I do not look at any throats during the racing season neither do I look at how clean a pigeons breast is. However I look at how well they exercise around home and the birds droppings this is the indicator on a birds health, and Im a big believer you can only get good results with birds with good health.

    Advice Please

It's down to you, when we raced natural our best results was old cocks on big young uns or on the drive. Our best hen results was racing home to lay, chipping eggs and a small youngster. But were talking some 15-17 years ago now.I used to like also taking the cock or hen away to make them think they was the only one there for the eggs or the youngster. What I will say the result will be how keen he is, he has to be keen to do anything.

I've heard two conflicting stories, one that he sent Wing Down, the other he did not. If he did send him I hope he gets him.

I don't fly south, but I thought with these late libs, they were done so the birds didn't have enough time to hit the coast before dark. I would love to see Alwyn Hills pigeon Wing Down make it home though, the pigeon is a superstar.

Looking for the Frank bristow DVD to buy
  20. Just let me know mate
  21. Unfortunately they wasn't on the darkness then, being on 12hrs 15 minutes light, they would moult naturally. You must have at least 30 minutes more darkness for the system to work, 12hrs 30 minutes dark, 11hrs 30 light, they would have gone on the system perfectly. Also 2-3 weeks on natural light from weaning would have done them no favours for the darkness system, if weaning in march and April like us anything that is weaned after 21st March must go straight on the dark. If they have more hours of light then dark it just doesn't work
  22. Yes mate, I'm off Untill Thursday let me know when you want me to do it and I'll come round
  23. Uncle Ron used to use it at the Isle of Dogs when he raced, he used it for years I'll have to ask him and let you know
  24. Going to be a tough one to answer, how many hours are they on the dark, how old are they and did you use lights when they was in the nest?
  25. 58.70 mph but lost a minute and ten seconds on the trap.
