  2. "They are caused by the same virus as pigeon pox, this was explained to me by Dr Gerrit Dhont of Melle several years ago. If you wait until they are almost ripe, you can tie some cotton round them and they will drop off in a few days. The young birds will be no worse for this. I can guarantee. One of my best pigeons ever had at least 6 on his wings and body as a youngster and he won 11 x 1st prizes in the next 3 years. All children have problems." A quote from the Legend Frank Tasker. On a personal note, I've never had a good one.
  3. No fella defiantly Jos Soontjen. It wasn't made by Boddy, they used to sell it. I know Wal Zoontjens as I used to many years ago use his grain compositions so it wasn't the fancier I was thinking of
  4. Boddy used to sell the Soontjen dvd

  9. Sorry Peter cannot agree with your statement. Handling means diddly squat, Observation is the most important aspect of success. But were all entitled to our own opinion.

  12. Wally Pope was the first agent along with Jimmy Edgridge for Louis massarella. Wally was an old east London fancier who conducted many auctions through the UK, and had conducted his own strain. He also was the local pigeon shop owner.
  13. Scott why do you feed them extra?
  14. Not a lot changes really, things around the loft happen roughly the same time of day, 52 weeks of the year. Only change to the lofts will be some new hen boxes will be fitted to my hen section with the intention of racing hens next season.
  15. Sammy, flor Engels birds are heavily used as a cross on the continent, and you'll find the bloodlines in many of the top lofts there. However they seem really successful with the chaps on the middle distance. But many do state they are a very close family probably why they are used with success as a cross.

Bill from my understanding Dirk and Leo are very good friends, and live only literally a 5 minute drive away. So I wouldn't be surprised if he's had them all from the best. Dirk seems to have crossed them extremely well with the Steffan Lambrechts, which is the nephew and cousin of the famous Berlaar partnership known in England.

Do you think dirk will move up after the money his earning in the Tievernbond? I'm sure if he does he'll lead the way with the same family.
  23. Geordie, in my opinion it doesn't sound right, if they cannot get up to there usual perch something is really not right. The PMV vaccine in my experience never gives a reaction.
  24. If they can't get upto the perch you have serious trouble

Bill, the last 5 years or so the very consistent loft of Eric Berkmoes of Brecht, has been extremely consistent in what is described as heavy middle distance in belgium from 500km to 600 km. but his birds are descendants of one of belgiums best quiverain and noyon players Albert Marcellis. I also feel his very underrated pigeon man, especially since his birds win well in other peoples hands also. His Stock loft is made up mainly of sons and daughters of Alberts famous 'Sprint'
