I'm producing an article on a fancier over the weekend Andy so should have a few to work on. Been quiet tough at work ATM with single days off but I'll hopefully have a few examples up soon. This cock himself is a winner of 5x1st club, 4x2nd club and a 5th club including 1x1st fed and 2x2nd fed. I believe a basics member Sheba bought his parents as I did him at an entire clearance, he a Gevaert van Schoorise cross Andre Diereck. And has already bred good birds for me.

Been playing with the photobox, that alex wight made for me, heres an image I was playing with of one of my stock cocks, ready mix, as I had a bit of spare time today.

I'd like to be racing the hens rather then the cock, in that situation I can think of a few things that could make em extremely jealous

A thing I use to motivate, once in a blue moon, but will only work on pigeons observation in the breeding season, with my widowhood cocks. If I notice an extra keen cock on young birds and eggs you'll generally find it can work when they're on widowhood. On a Friday night, turn all bowls over, and on the cock you've done your observational homework on, get a 10 day old young bird from stock loft, and place it into his bowl, with another bowl on top about 3/4, so the cock can just see and hear the young un, do not let him into his bowl side yet, observe how he is acting, if his acting aggressive forget it, if his calm allow him into his box, keep observing, if still calm, take the bowl that was resting on top of, and continue observing, if your observations in breeding season was right you'll be amazed. The cock will sit on the young and go to feed him, once his fed the young put him in the basket with your money on him.

IMO maize isn't essential, what you must remember is the carbohydrates are burnt of very quickly, and are really only of use for the first hour of any given race, and then the bird uses it's fat reserves as it's main fuel for energy. I've fed maize when racing to my young birds during racing some years, and some years not, the result being there is no difference at all. But when on the dark, and moulting my birds always have maize in a high protein mixture.

It doesn't matter what time choose a time that suits you, as long as there's more dark hours then light it will work

The hen is a multiple scoring young bird fella, so she is a yearling now

He is 3 yr old, and I would say 99.9% he isn't a hen, I gave him a freshen up for 7 days and that never worked. His very keen to the box he settled to but, as I said if you put a rank hen in with him he shows interest only for a little while and then gives up like its hard days work.

As some may know a bought a pair of pigeon of pigeons at Blackpool. Both appear very healthy....but at this one I am scratching my head. The cock bird doesn't seem very interested the way a cock of his age should be....when put in with a hen he coos for a short time, and looks keen, after a couple of minutes he gives up even trying. He is in a shed with 10 spare hens I thought that might liven him up make him sexually active but not a peep. Quiet frustrating as the rest of my stock went down on two eggs in 10 days. I've also been putting wheat germ oil on his feed to see if that does much, but nothing. I'm at my wits end? Any of the old hands or fancier who's experienced something similar can shed any light? I may have to get a test done on him but his droppings, eyes and throat, and good regular drop of down suggests there's nothing wrong with him.

One Of The Greatest Writers Pigeon Racing Has Produced
Wiley replied to Rooster J. Cogburn's topic in Articles & Loft Reports
No doubt rod is a great writer only reason I buy the rp -
Jef cuypers from hakendover, his birds are flor Engels, Janssen brothers,Verbruggen and Roger Florizoone based. Bill his bons used to come up from time to time and went cheaply. He raced in the union landen in the Melun club. His speciality seemed to be 288km so not a true distance man. However I haven't seen any bons from him this year. His email address if you haven't already got it is jef.cuypers1@telenet.be

Sprint Lofts What Do You Feed On Return From A Race
Wiley replied to demolition man's topic in Health & Feeding
Protein, if you tear you must repair, whether sprinting or distance racing. -
I've also will be using Bucktons High protein economy, and Countrywide No.1(Beans peas and Tares), so I've got something to bolster it up in the other feeds during the day, like I said it's got a huge variety maybe the pellets in it offer something different compared to the other mixes?

Bern, I've always liked liege mixes, but £17 turned me off, Bamfords Wizard Heavy is excellent and a good cheaper alternative to liege but with Joes shop closing, bamfords is hard to get over and I'm not a fan of manor farms. As most know I like to feed 3-4 different brand mixes to my breeders whilst rearing, but found the start plus quiet light but with plenty of variety, I liked the variety but for myself personally I like more beef in it for rearing

Gardner you would have to ask him, but you must remember gem comes in at 25kg and not 20kg which 98% of grain companies seem to sell these days
-
I know demolitionman gets it by the pallet from Gem.

I had a deal struck with a friend in Belgium for 6 babies to try, however his moved up in distance from sprint to middle, he was happy to fulfil our deal but asked if I could take from the earlier round, which I was unable to do, so have post poned the deal for one year but is based on the results on his transition but I'm sure he'll still be successful. It's a shame as I was looking forward to testing them, as I know there a versatile family.

Old grizzle looks a cracker what line of birds is he from ?

Hi john but what is your opinion on Versa Laga Start Plus IC?
-
I had a brilliant racing barren hen years ago, but she was good racer before she went barren. She went missing reported near enough dead, we brought her round but she never laid an egg again but she continued to race well, she was super keen on dummy's and babies though. Personally I think they've either got it or they haven't.

What are people's opinions on this grain for rearing?
