  1. Happy birthday Alan.
  2. Happy birthday.
  3. Perky Pickle Pants
  4. Well done Walter and Michael.
  5. Happy birthday folks.
  6. Good morning all.
  7. Blue sky, scattered white wispy clouds, Baltic. Thin ice on top of puddles and ground frost. Apart from the cold, it is a really nice day and will probably warm up a bit as it progresses.
  8. The terror inflicted by peregrine attacks is probably THE major problem. It will also cause the demise of the small garden loft if left un-checked.
  9. My nose is bleeding just thinking about it George. I do however want to race distance, so at some time I shall have to decide apprenticeship over, learn the trade from the big boys. That time may be this year, but probably next due to delays in my home plans. I know what Tam means though and I agree they have to be sent to the required distance to develop the loft potential. There will be losses on the way. Andy's 98% rule.
  10. Good morning all, time to get busy.
  11. Lovely clear, sunny sky, but a touch of ground frost and chilly.
  12. Good to hear Alf. I know Fifer said the site had it covered, but we heard nothing more since that. I am glad you will have some financial backing and would like to donate, so if info could be posted, I shall. I think I may already have Ian's Paypal if that is the correct place, but others may not. Super Ian, what are the Paypal details for donations?
  13. I posted on the Hamilton Fires thread that it seems there is no organised action. Whilst it is good that the clubs in their Fed may give financial assistance I had thought that the pigeon chat sites would have been more active with financial assistance. I know it may be early yet, I cannot even begin to imagine how these lads must be feeling, but Alf has started to repair his OB loft and has had some help from fanciers, but as yet there has been no organised help for these guys. I do so hope that the other fellas will remain in the fancy, but it seems their lofts have been totally destroyed. so it is not repairs, but completely new lofts that are required and they are not cheap.
  14. Rab has put some info on the other site and they seem to be motivating a bit. What about the two other lads, how are they coping? Hopefully, the sites will assist with finance when needed and although I am unable to physically assist, I would be happy to help in that manner. I am glad you are not going to let them beat you and pity them if you ever find out who they were.
  15. Alan, what is the full extent of the damage? I know your loft has damage, but is repairable, but how are your birds? What about the two other lofts? Are they both completely destroyed? There seems to be a lot of offers from individuals, but I haven't heard of any organised help which seems to have happened in the past.
  16. Welcome to the site.
  17. I was just telling the kids last night about how well they have done and explained what it was like in our day. Boring old farts when you reach our age.
  18. They are at various stages, but most are well through. Some just finishing their last flight.

  20. Aye, they shouldn't be in cities, but the do-gooders have botched that up. This is part of the reason their tactics have changed. You cannot go into a 200mph stoop in a built up area, so you have to adapt.
  21. They are here!!! Things have came!!! You are lucky to be just becoming aware of them. Clear all bushes and hedges from around your loft to give the pigeons a chance of seeing SH before they are upon the birds. Their tactics are changing and they do attack the birds in the air and will chase after a failed ambush. They have to eat and there are so many of them that they have to adapt. Similarly the Peregrine will also attack by ambush and also chase in flight. There are that many of them that they have also adapted their methods. Best of luck.
  22. Words fail me.
  23. Enjoying these Q & A sessions lads.

  25. I expected something like that for being a smart ass. Being serious, if security is your main point, why can't the SNFC appoint official markers and handlers as they did in the past, but at the present marking stations, apart from Newhouse which according to all reports appears unfit for purpose? Having read the thread, this appears to be the main gripe regarding security. I appreciate that it doesn't solve the basketing of birds from all areas into mixed baskets at the one source, but surely when they are released, at least for a short time they form the one flock. The one central marking station would serve only to reduce numbers for all the aforementioned reasons and perhaps in this manner have an effect of the main drag. Are any of my point correct? If not please educate me.
