  1. Was thinking of letting the birds out, but decided I wouldn't put a dog out in it, so why the pigeons. Seriously though, it is blowing a gale here. Very strong winds, can sometimes see the sky amongst the grey gloom and it is really wet. A day to stay in bed. Worst luck, I'm unable so to do.
  2. Morning all. Take care, those of you who have to be out and about.
  3. What a good post for new starters to mull over and digest. Some good practical advice.
  4. Owen, new starts have to use untried, unproven paper pigeons to breed youngsters. The important point is where they go from there. How long do they allow for their own inadequacies before blaming the birds and looking to improve their producers? For myself, I have found that only a few of my original paper pigeons are still here. That is the ones whose youngsters have became proven, albeit at short distances, whilst the others have failed. The common factor is that they became proven under the same mis-management under which the others failed. There are some other paper pigeons here that are being tried and tested via their youngsters and the jury is still out regarding them. Another pleasing factor is that some youngsters have performed under different management, OLR, and some birds are on loan where their youngsters are performing well, so they are becoming proven.
  5. Good morning all.
  6. Clear skies and cold today.

  14. Few clouds, blue skies, dry, but damp and cold here in East Ayrshire.
  15. Well done both. Interesting.
  16. Happy birthday all.
  17. Happy birthday Lindsay's lass.
  18. Good Morning all. Few clouds in what looks like developing into a blue sky. Cold though.
  19. Morning all.
  20. Just as I said, take the wheel barra. Or even to wheel yer barra. Well said Wattie
  21. Is the wheel barra no to barra him hame?
  22. I'll take a guess. Loft a wee bit damp, given time of year, and ammonia from excreta in the air. Your mask would stop dust, but perhaps not fumes.
  23. Jim or John Shepherd's nephew from Dunlop used to keep fancy pigeons. I recently gave him a tumbler I had rescued and at that time he had no other birds. He may be interested if you are able to contact any of his uncles. I don't have the boy's contact details.
  24. Never met him, but heard plenty about him. Sad loss to the fancy.
