They will survive on worms if they have to, don't be fooled. The natural will to live is great. Some may fall, but they will be eaten and plenty will survive. They are very successful during breeding and their numbers will increase.

I have fed it and I have not fed it. Either way it made no difference to my results. To qualify that, I am a complete beginner, nowhere near the flight path and probably pretty crap as a fancier.

Sorry to hear this Lindsay, especially after the floods, etc. Glad I live at the top of a hill, basically on the top of a rock. The winds ripped bits of the roof off last time and the water damage was horrendous, but nothing like that suffered by those who are flooded.
