  1. Don't think he would have the time. I'm just leaving now to get there in time to help set the hall.
  2. Picked Mark up earlier. Mark, Steve and John McWhirter are now on a loft visit before they return to their hotel for a clean up and 40 winks prior to this evening's event. I don't think they'll manage the 40 winks right enough.
  3. Good morning all.
  4. Happy birthday Mr O'Hare.
  5. Tonight, 18.30 for 19.00 start. Looking forward to it even though I'll be busy, I'll still enjoy the evening. Mark Bulled will be on his flight, safe journey; I think Nigel drove up yesterday and Steve should be arriving off the boat this morning. Won't be long now. I hope to see you there and hope I manage a chance for a bit of a blether.
  6. You know your onions Roly.
  7. My opinion, for what very little it is worth, considering I got a nose bleed sending to 280 miles during 2015 season for the first time, or in other words, having no experience whatsoever, and therefore my opinion is of little regard. There is a vast difference to a 500 mile continental race and a 500 mile Scottish race. Why? I remember back in the late 60's / early 70's an old successful West of Scotland fancier telling me that the Belgian pigeons flew over flat lands. At that time I didn't comprehend what he was talking about. Racing 500 measured miles into Scotland could mean your pigeon is flying nearer to 600 miles due to the terrain it must pass through. They have to circumnavigate the hills and mountains to find their route and this takes place at the end of their arduous journey. The terrain is less forgiving than the continental terrain or even that in the south of England, then you must add the modern problem of an excess of BOP. Given these circumstances, 40 or 60 miles could make a vast difference to an already tired pigeon.
  8. Good morning all.
  9. Happy birthday.
  10. Good morning all.
  11. Broken cloud, blue sky and cold here in East Ayrshire.
  12. Sorry Pat, at this time I don't know. I believe you have the North Coast Classic and Emerald ?, but I don't know which one it is. I did ask, but was told there was only one. I think it is in the North so it could be the Classic. I will attempt to find out more tomorrow.
  13. STOP PRESS:- AS WELL AS DONATING A DRAFT OF PIGEONS FROM IRELAND FOR SALE, STEVE MCGARRY HAS DONATED AN ENTRY INTO THE IRISH ONE LOFT RACE AS A PRIZE IN THE RAFFLE
  14. Welcome to the site.
  15. Good Andy and well done to that volunteer.
  16. So, as I stated, democracy works in your household in a similar manner to the way it works in almost all households in the land.
  17. I think your outright beginners will be a bit apprehensive to advertise their ignorance, confusion and fear of failure to promote themselves in this manner. Your best bet will be someone meeting the parameters who has kept pigeons for a time or someone who knows of a beginner and is able to give you a lead and some encouragement to the beginner to take up the offer.
  18. There are bound to be more deaths nowadays given the sophistication of the weapons used and the ability to network and report on the same including the fact that less of the population die from illnesses. Life expectancy has risen from the average of 33 years to more like 80 years. The whole idea of democracy is to increase talk and reduce fighting, removing the power from the few and giving it to the many. A rather utopian idea that can never happen. It always eventually comes down to the governing executive having to make the decisions. Again, I am not advocating dictatorships, I much prefer the democracy we have. I'm sure someone will now take issue with what I have typed and correct me.
  19. Strange, but apart from the danger of such an event, given the improved weaponry, but wars were great for population control. If you look into history, when wars were as frequent as they currently are and of a similar size and intensity, the attrition served to limit the populations. I am not advocating war, merely stating a thought. We don't have as many serious wars and have improved our skills of communication, but have never managed to consider how to resolve the many issues arising from this increase in population and the burden it places on Mother Earth. I hope the politicians are not looking for an easy way out because given the modern weaponry, this is not an option.
  20. Happy birthday all.
  21. Need to try the weedkiller method at some parts of the garden myself to see if it works.
  22. Broken cloud, but a clearer day here in East Ayrshire. On the positive side, my cold is beginning to clear and I almost feel human now. I know that will never happen, I'll always be alien to some, but we live in hope.
  23. Good morning all.
