  1. Good morning all.
  2. I remember reading somewhere that they use some sort of thermal recognition when hunting and red is a hot colour, so they stand out more in a batch of mainly blues. Apparently if you have a flock of mostly reds they single out the blues. The natural order is for a proliferation of blues, so the minority reds are targeted first.
  3. Let's face it, we all know that the BOP very quickly become used to our attempts to protect our pigeons. This doesn't mean we should not make the attempts. At the loft, we should rotate / change our means of attempt, be it flashing lights, tape, balloons, owls, taped music of eagle owls calling, etc. On the pigeon itself there is little we can do except the eyes. Yes, BOP will become used to it, but it may make the difference between arriving injured or not arriving at all. It all comes down to luck in the end.
  4. Good morning all.
  5. I used the red sheep spray. Sprayed it into the lid and dabbed it with the sterilising sponge from the vaccination packs. Found it took a time to dry and was fairly messy. Another club member used a red bingo dabber. The circles were a bit smaller, but the effect very much the same.
  6. My daughter has just passed her Driving Theory Test at first asking. She sat it this morning, going up to Glasgow after her 17th birthday breakfast. She was buzzing when she phoned and I think she'll be flying as the day progresses. She is now shopping in Glasgow, spending her birthday money. I'm going in to meet her later to visit the solicitor to start adoption proceedings. Going to cost a fortune now with driving lessons, increased car insurance so she can drive our car, etc. :)
  7. Good post!!! I expect Wiley or Tony C would be the best. They will have an idea regarding the sprint scene down there and are at the top of their game in the London area.
  8. Grey drizzly overcast and windy here in East Ayrshire.
  9. Good morning all.
  10. Happy birthday.
  11. Seen doubles and triples before.
  12. George, closing the loft up should stop the dampness, but it would reduce the air flow. Would you use heat to control humidity and fans to control air flow?
  13. I don't think albinos handle the sunlight very well. If that is the case, you'll lose it during the summer sun. Either to a hawk or some such predator because of its eyesight deficiency.
  14. Good post Walter. I picked up on your first two, but didn't feel experienced enough to advise a solution. Third one didn't even enter my thoughts.
  15. Happy birthday.
  16. Good morning all.
  17. Main points for me are the problem with the wet floor. This has to be sorted. Could be proximity to the ground or some other reason, but it has to be remedied. Feeding - possibly too much. Most in winter feed only once a day due to time constraints. I have no objection to feed being available at all times, if that is what he wants, but I think a hopper feeding expert needs to advise. Usually only one type of feed, beans, barley or pellets are left in the hoppers, I think.
  18. Looks like your son was a very good craftsman. Some nice stuff there. It would help if you give your location.
  19. I'll check with Linda if it is this one.
  20. I bred Boxers for years Walter.
  21. Cracking photos and pigeons.
  22. Great wee film. I think this is the one that the SHU are distributing to schools via the Scottish Education Department.
  23. Well done Paul.
