It would help Janice a lot if you phone her with pre-entries. This will allow her to set up the pens properly. Please phone her as soon as possible.
  3. Dull, misty and raining here in East Ayrshire.
  4. Good morning all.
  5. Well done. Plenty lucky horseshoes to fit to your loft now.
  6. Good morning all.
  7. I would guess reds, mealies, blues and cheqs. The yellow is dilute and recessive, I think, the black isn't, so it will dominate. Someone in the know will answer this one.
  8. Contact details for John and Lou can be found here. http://barcelonachallenge.frenchyoungbirdderby.com/
  9. Mik, bowly hole is a term I've heard before, so perhaps that is why it is open bowl, albeit I always refer to open hole. I posted this #10 Bowl is the name of the old fashioned trap that is on hinges to let birds in and hence open bowl(trap). Eastcoaster posted this #12 i always thought the word bowl was derived from bolt hole which some old fanciers called there trap. Walter posted this #14 A bowly hole was a trap door in say a hay loft taking you down to a stable or in a grain store taking you down to the feed room. There was a hinged door at the top and a ladder or slide under it depending on its use. This ties in with Eastcoaster's bowl and Walter's bolt when taken together with the word hole; bowl hole, bolt hole.
  10. Good morning all.
  11. Happy birthday.
  12. Good morning all.
  13. Mik, bowly hole is a term I've heard before, so perhaps that is why it is open bowl, albeit I always refer to open hole. I live in the sticks and I use open hole, but cautiously. Some years I can lose two or three a day easily, so lock them in and let them out on occasions. Other times I am able to be on open hole all year round. Either the BOP are smarter some years or my pigeons are not as sharp, but I, as manager, must decide the tactics.

  15. I got them for about 2 years, then decided to stop them. They were mostly adverts, especially at this time of year, and if I had a top breeder it certainly would not be sold, so I don't believe the adverts. I enjoyed some of the writers and articles, but some are available elsewhere online, so they are the ones I now read. I still get Squills Year Book though.
  16. Ours was last night and a good night was had by all, as far as I could tell.
  17. Thanks to the lads from my other Club for coming along and to Morris Bros for taking part in the panel.
  18. Good morning all.
  19. Thanks for the comments lads. As you know I was busy all night, but glad I managed to have 5 minutes with you early on.
