  1. Two of the biggest things your going to have to contend with is keeping the pigeons in good health and keeping everyone happy. Think you should from the off make it known what steps your going to take to minimise the risk of infection within the flock, perhaps get the services of a vet and have a screening/testing schedule set in place. One of the best way of keeping people happy is to keep them well informed, maybe set up a blog and state you'll update it at least once a week.

  5. The more days you can give them plain water the better (I also let it stand for 24hrs). Best to mix stuff in with their feed.
  6. Was thinking about this myself just today DD. Do they see things we dont :-/ lets take a cock looking for he's hen for example, there could be 20 blue hens of which he's hen is one of them......... he can pick her out in a blink of the eye....... can he see markings or a different shade of colour on that hen that isn't noticeable to the human eye :-/

  9. One way is to place a board directly under the the sputnik which comes out 2'-3' further. Open the sputnik up to allow them to venture outside on this board, they'll soon learn that is the way in and out.

  16. I consider myself a serious fancier (oh yes I do ;D) and I've read anything and everything I can get my hands on about this. Twinned with fanciers I know that jab against this I have come to the conclusion it hinders more than it benefits.
  17. As good as new ;D
  18. Another reason I believe is the type of pigeon we race these days. They're lighter framed, cocks are becoming to look henny and so on. In our search for speed they've gained in some respects but lost in others, one of which is intelligence.
  19. Yes we had a great time. Remember when that copper tried to nick me........... for breaking into a tenner............... you jumped to my defence by saying it was the first time I'd ever done it ;D
  20. Did you notice that WANTED sign of me at Blackpool the other year Jimmy, said I was wanted for trying to impersonate a pigeon fancier ;D
  21. I disagree with this statement ;D
  22. I agree with this statement.
  23. White spots could be the end result of a previous canker infection. Yellow spots canker or possibly herpesvirus. If you've been struggling with your pigeons health think about sending a pigeon or two away to a vets even if it means the vet will have to cull them to get to the bottom of the problem.
